As I said in my first post, I'll be waiting for the release version of phpBB 3.0, which hopefully shouldn't be too much longer, but may be a couple of months yet.Sscls wrote:when comes a dutch version of the new layout ??

Oh Owen I see you have a problem with crawlers/bots ?
Gigabot [Bot], Google [Bot], Google Adsense [Bot], Heritrix [Crawler], ichiro [Crawler], MSNbot Media, Yahoo [Bot]
that's quite much for 5 minutes

Re: Welcome to the newly upgraded forums!
It's not so much a problem, more the fact the forums are popular.
Re: Welcome to the newly upgraded forums!
Users can now delete their polls, which I think was MEANT to be an option in phpBB2, but wasn't.
Excellent

I would personally ask though, if users do delete their polls, please edit your post to include a record of the existing votes... it's only polite, really.Dave Worley wrote:Users can now delete their polls, which I think was MEANT to be an option in phpBB2, but wasn't.

Since the records of the competition need keeping anyway, this is how I'll be doing it. Dunno if others will though.orudge wrote:I would personally ask though, if users do delete their polls, please edit your post to include a record of the existing votes... it's only polite, really.Dave Worley wrote:Users can now delete their polls, which I think was MEANT to be an option in phpBB2, but wasn't.

Well, I meant it more as a general thing. I personally don't like throwing things away or deleting them, hence why if anyone asks me to delete a poll, I'll post a record of the old votes.

Re: Welcome to the newly upgraded forums!
Can someone tell me what these dots on some topic icons mean?
(Yay for inline attachments, BTW )
The FAQ page doesn't mention them, they aren't explained in the legend at the bottom, and I couldn't find any pattern in them myself, either.
[edit] Oh, never mind, I've just found the pattern. The dots indicate that I'm watching the topic. Silly me It's useful that you can see a list of them in UCP, too.

I think they say you replied in that topic, not that you watch it

No errors. Using Opera 9.10.Orudge wrote:It works fine here - do you get an error message or something?Moriarty wrote:1) User control panel, click "profile" and then "Edit signature". Doesn't work. I didn't want to actually create one (I hate the things - nice to see a "hide sigs" option!), but I do like pressing all the buttons anyway.

Oh, and thanks for changing the colours.
Happened to me too when I accidentally double-clicked "submit". So it seems to get rid of double-posting too, but only as a side-effect.[Ooh, while writing this topic, it tells me "At least one new post has been made to this topic. You may wish to review your post in light of this.". Very nice ]
If you want a link to open in a new window, you can manually do it by:White Rabbit wrote:Ah, I just noticed an unwelcome behaviour change. The old phpBB would do the sensible thing and open links in a new window, but v3 opens it in the same window.

Not everyone have a third mouse button.
a) Clicking the middle link with the mouse button.
b) Hold down ctrl or shift or both when clicking the link. Thus no middle mouse button needed.
They work on Firefox/Opera and I'd guess most other browsers. Depending on what keyboard-combo / Browser you're using, it will open the link in either a new window or a new tab.
Seems likely. I've never set any topics to watch, yet a few have dots. The ones I am seeing dots on are ones I've posted in.I think they say you replied in that topic, not that you watch it
Re: Welcome to the newly upgraded forums!
Yes, you're right. I usually watch the topics I reply to, so there's no difference for me. Plus, I thought I saw a "dotty" topic where I haven't posted, but I must have overlooked my post.SHADOW-XIII wrote:I think they say you replied in that topic, not that you watch it
Anyway, it's a nice feature, knowing which topics are you involved in. I just don't understand why it isn't mentioned in the legend - it's not obvious at all.

I mentioned that but I was told to use the middle (non-existent on my laptop) button or ctrl/shift+click by Owen, most helpfulandel wrote:I notice Links open in the same window though...

Bit of a problem when you are used to simply left-clicking... I dunno what'd take to add the code in... what we need is a load of geeks to offer solutions...

I already showed orudge a link on how to do it, but he wouldn't because he wasn't convinced links should open in new windows.andel wrote:Bit of a problem when you are used to simply left-clicking... I dunno what'd take to add the code in... what we need is a load of geeks to offer solutions...

Has anyone else had this problem? Could you try with a different browser, perhaps?Moriarty wrote:No errors. Using Opera 9.10.

It's easy enough to add the code, but it's not something I'll be doing. Ideally, what may be better would be for local links to stay in the same window, but external links to open in a new window - but that'd require more than a simple bit of editing BBCode. Anyway, it may be a pain, but it's really not that hard to get used to - just press SHIFT when you click the link, or right-click it and choose Open in New Window/Tab. Personally, I've been doing the latter pretty much forever, anyway.andel wrote:Bit of a problem when you are used to simply left-clicking... Re: Welcome to the newly upgraded forums!
Same with the links and usually have FF set to open new windows in a new tab.

Or try the middle mouse button (when using a browser of the newest generation).orudge wrote:...Anyway, it may be a pain, but it's really not that hard to get used to - just press SHIFT when you click the link, or right-click it and choose Open in New Window/Tab.
