Help!!

I'm new on here so I'll apologise now if this is posted in the wrong place.
Firstly, I have 2 lots of transport tycoon deluxe on different machines, One is working but only in a little box which I cant make any bigger and the other is working at full screen but I've got so far through the game but my trains are Not updating (I'm upto the '90s but only have diesel units).

I have no idea what either problem may be, Whether I've done something wrong or program problem so any help and advise would be much appreciated.

Is there a better version to use? Any sort of fix?

Clicking and holding down railway construction button opens a dropdown menu with all available railtypes, you can choose the desired railtype (likely electrified rail) there. Just note, that only (default) engines for electrified rail are in temperate climate.
