Transport Tycoon in 3D already?

Post by insulfrog »

I wonder if anyone had seen this video of Transport Tycoon, I found it by accident a few minutes ago :p : -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=668-USF1uZ8

It is in 3D perspecitve rather than the usual isometric view. Although basic, it can prove that TT has already been done in a 3D environment.

I recorded that video, but dind't upload it on youtube though. It's simply the Playstation One version of TT. In case you haven't heard about that yet, you might want to check out http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36811, http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 39&start=0, or http://www.tt-ms.de/about/#ttadps (which is where the video was taken from).

And also, looking at it, a testing place for some ideas for locomotion :-)

I played it once, but it lost something in translation. It just isn't right

If this is possible with the current OpenTTD code, by swapping a module or whatnot, I volunteer to the the boxes. I love the game for its isometric, basic, unrealistic graphics (and the transportation of course), some basic 3D would be nice.

Wow, that's ugly.

The trains look like shoe boxes connected by rubber band.

To all those who are interested in 3D TT: I have recorded and uploaded a new twelve-minute high-quality ingame video showing mostly the 3D graphics of the PS1 version of TT. Get it here: http://www.tt-ms.de/about/#ttadps

And when we get to times like we are now...I mean we are in the 21st century, even the original game in 2D looks ugly in these times. Like the other guy said, if they make a version in 3D for the PS3 that would be very cool !

Don't get me wrong...When the game first came out it was nice looking for these times, and I have played lots of hours with it, I really loved it, but for me a game should be bigger and better to impress me now that we are in the 21st century...

I still play a lot of locomotion though but that is just because I'm addicted to that game for 6 years now...I even play OTTD from time to time, but I still hate the fact that it lacks normal cornering for the traintracks...
