New name of jam: junctioneer

Post by Zuu »

My game jam neads a better name that discribes my ideas better.

Please read page 2-3 in this pdf.

And then either vote on one of my sugested names or if you have an own idea. Please motivate your suggestion.

My name sugestions:
# Chaotic Traffic
# Traffic Jam Simulator
# Traffic Junction Simulator
# Junction Simulator <--- HOT
# Simucars
# Simuvehicles
# Simujuncions
# Mega junction
# Crossing Cronstructor <--- HOT
# CrossingEngineer <--- HOT
# Crossing Engineering
# JunctionEngineer
# Crossing Simulator
# SimuCrossings
# Crossing Designer <--- HOT

The sugestions marked with HOT are my favourites. The sugestions Crossing Designer and Crossing Engineering and simular seams, to me, to be closest to my game idea. However I'm not native English.

EDIT: Thanks for your help.

"jam" is fine to me. I'd rather type "jam" than "constructionengineer" to start the thing :)

What I think is bad with the current name:

# might be hard to get a high rating on google with the current name.
# hard to get a http://www.jam.* site if you are not verry ritch.
# "jam" do not say anything about traffic. (if you dont know any thing about the game)

What can be done with the name jam:

# We can figure out 3 words that make the acronyme J.A.M. that tells something about the game.

sugestion:
# J unction
# A *
# M *

I like the name sugestion "Crossing Designer" witch make "CD" acronyme.

Also Crossing Designer tells something about tha game, that most people would understand. Not everybody connects "jam" with "traffic jam".

What about SimCrossing or would that cause trouble in Maxisland  ? SimJunc/JuncSim (you might want to stress the c). Other suggestion: Routeplanner?

I'd want to avoid the sim prefix, betther to use simu* prfix witch idon't think hajo owns.

Erm - couldn't you have just bumped your old topic?

My traffic junction simulator (Jam) - New name

But I'll repeat the suggestions I had there:
  • Red Amber Green (RAG)
  • Junctilator (A word formed from Junction Simulator)
  • Stop Sign Simulator (S3)

The main problem with "cd" is that it's already in use on most platforms. Again, executing "./constructiondesigner" is just a bit too long ;)

I think the "rag" suggestion is good. Short for writing stuff, and http://www.redambergreen.* should be easy to come by.

Heh. This reminds me that last year I was exhausted searching for "junction games", that would either let you design a junction or operate the signals. I found either very stupid flash games or professional $700 tools, neither of which I particularily needed.

Now I come across this. The world is small  .

As for the name, why not:

BCS (Bam Crash Sim)
Adsig (ADvanced SIGnalling)
Stowego (STOp WAIt GO)
Lack of user development is intentional.

I think:

Transport Junction
Imagination! Here, you learn what it is to be human. You are a creator of order, of beautiful shapes and systems, an organizer of chaos.

Late comment, but now I am sitting here and try to make a decision.

To execute ./constructiondesigner you probably only nead to write the begining and press TAB.
ChrisCF wrote:I think the "rag" suggestion is good. Short for writing stuff, and http://www.redambergreen.* should be easy to come by.
Well this is not an answer to you Chris. Rag does not tell so mutch about the game. I'd prefere a name that tell something about the game, but as I said Im not a professor at the English language, so if i miss something, plese tell me.

A question to Englishmen: Do you olny use "amber" for the color yellow when you talk about traffic lights?
