OpenTTD-1.5.0

Post by Alberth »

It's the time of the year where everybody does a little crazy, and much like every year, we join the fun.

This year, we release the 1.5.0 stable release, with higher mountains than you have ever seen before, a better UI for high resolution screens, and a much more rural intro screen.
There are many other changes and fixes, see the changelog for the full list.

To play at heights unseen, download the new binary from the usual place

It always is dangerous to release on this date, but I recall you doing so in 2014 too. Is this just a lucky coincidence? :P

On that April 1 note, I fail to download the installer for 64-bit:

Really? Wow. Must be a coincidence.
Imagine betas and releases would always happen on the same day. Haha :p , noone would do that, unless maybe when stuck in a time loop, and trying to catch someone's attention for help that way.

Seems this mirror was acting up. Removed it from rotation for now, till I have time to figure out what went wrong :)

Just click the link on the frontpage again to be pointed to any other mirror; sorry for the inconvenience.

And it seems like the depot window's "dynamic resize" misfeature is finally gone, without any bugs reported on Flyspray, and likewise no developer ever aknowledging the problem here on the forum. And no trace of it in the changelog, I should add.

Nope, it isn't, but it has become somewhat intermittent:

That pretty much looks like a NewGRF bug - the newgrf defining a much too big, albeit transparent sprite.

Maybe, but it wasn't like that in the 1.4.x series. I've never seen it before the first 1.5 beta.

I em getting this error message when playing 1.5.0 with zbase. Is there a way to get rid of it? OpenttD 1.5.0 and Zbase was downloaded and installed yesterday, and according to the ingame download there are no updates available.

I found version 257 from that link (The one I have is 251), but now I can't unpack the .xz-file. Any advice on what I will need?

The .xz file only needed if you are planning to compile it yourself, but I'm guessing since you can't open the .xz files you don't have a build environment installed. You should probably download the .zip file instead.

You are quite right, I don't have a build environment. Downloaded the .zip, but OpenTTD does not seem to find it. It is in the baseset folder of OpenTTD. Should it be converted to .tar?

If updating zBase doesn't resolve the issue (I don't use it, so no idea), then download the latest nightly for OpenGFX. Even if you're using zBase, any missing sprites will fall back on OpenGFX.
