Urgh UCAS can really annoy me sometimes, well just the whole applying for Uni bit
Those of you who are applying this year (for Oct 08 or deferred in Oct 09) what courses are you applying for?

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
From someone who's been through it all, hang in there because nothing beats opening your results and seeing you've got into your first choice.
Nice to see you're being very prompt though. I didn't get mine in til February 14th.
Sadly enough, my circumstances, as you know, changed shortly after.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
Ah, I remember applying to UCAS. It was nice seeing that offer from St Andrews come through back in April 2005 or so, even if it was only a conditional offer. (Even nicer seeing "ACCEPTED" against my name on exam results day, before the postman had even been). One little thing though, jvassie, can you shorten your sig a bit? It's really far too long as it is, it should be about half the height.
Re: UCAS Applications 2008
Yes I found out on the internet because the suspense was really killing me.
I got in though, and that's all that matters to me.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
I think Griff and James are the only people applying this time round. It's my turn next year. Fun fun.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
I'm applying though UCAS this year to Oxford (Oriel College), Durham, Warwick, Bath and Surrey for Enginnering Science or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
The UCAS website is terrible. The worst thing is that I put my address in with the és and it proceeded to mangle them by turning them into ??s. I can't change it either, as the trac part of the page fails with an error whenever I try and change any details.
The UCAS website kept breaking when I was trying to apply before the Oxbridge/medical deadline in October as well.
The staff at my school had to jump through hoops to get their bit working as well.
I've already got offers from Bath and Warwick, and I've got interviews with Durham and Oxford.
I actually had to call Oriel college about an hour and a half ago to check whether I had an interview or not, as they leave postage to the last possible instant, and it would probably get to France just a few days before the interviews next week , too late to book transport from Paris...
At least Durham are prompt enough to warn me about a month in advance.
Best of luck with applications folks...

Durham, eh? Good choice. Which college are you applying to, out of interest?JGR wrote:[...]

St. Mary's, although it was automatically allocated. I just applied for the "main campus/university" or something like that...Durham, eh? Good choice. Which college are you applying to, out of interest?

\o/ Gap Years FTW. Also, i shall be learning to do A/V stuff, as in, Audio/Visual.
Stuff like orudge does from time to time. But, sort of professionally.
Hope those going to Uni get where you want to go.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
I'm disappointed none of you have applied to - or even visited - St Andrews. Seriously, it's great up here! Give it a visit, it's not too late! (Well, except for those of you who have already submitted your stuff, in which case, your loss!)
Of course, you'll only get to meet the SROTU if you're applying this year, as 2008/9 is my last year... time flies

Owen, as you know i was thinking of going up there to visit, but the logistics of getting from here to there by public transport weren't favourable, and no one could drive me up there either.orudge wrote:I'm disappointed none of you have applied to - or even visited - St Andrews. Im quite happy with my choices though, favourites are Reading and Nottingham, the Jubilee campus at the latter is put simply, gorgeous.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
My choices were somewhat restricted by the course i wanted to do but i'm happy with what i've chosen, even though my poor grades will let me down - I'm not one for writing for long periods of time.

Re: UCAS Applications 2008
Birmingham's one of the best unis in the country now. In fact I'd say the weakest uni there is Swansea and that's not exactly rubbish.
