Patch: Loading Indicators

Post by TheJosh »

Loading Indicators

Loading indicators is a patch that makes a small percentage appear above a vehicle while it is loading or unloading.
The percentage shows how full it is.
This patch works for all vehicles (trains, buses, ships, aeroplanes)
This patch does not have any known problems, and has been tested a lot.

This patch is in trunk as of r10254

Version History
1.2 - updated to r10240
1.1 - added a patch option
1.0 - initial

Do the % values sit in a constant position, or do they move?

Have you considered mirroring the $ value movements? An interesting variant might be to show the % only when the value changes, and have it rise up and vanish like the $ values...

Great as-is though... hope to see it make the cut soon.
Many thanks to those who make OTTD and TTDP possible.

I think that having the numbers float up would be really annoying, especially when trains have to load A LOT and you'll also see loads of those things moving up.

...fair enough.

[EDIT] What about changing it (or having a setting...) so that the % only displays every 25%, or every 50%?

The idea here was 1) to make things a bit more consistent, and 2) not to upset the talented artists we have by eventually flooding the forums with screenshots of % covering their stations... Just something to consider :).

Now now, lets not get spammy.

I wouldn't like the "rises with value change" idea myself. It'd just look messy when the station loads the trains quickly.

I'd say: get it in the trunk, but as an option under 'stations'.

great work!

They can always just turn off the indicators in the 'Transparency GUI'...

Thanks for the update, without it I would have missed this great patch :) This would indeed be nice in trunk.

This is a very helpful patch... but instead of a patch option, could you put it in the transparency gui?

Another update, this time because some code changed for Timetables.

See the first post for the patch, and dont forget to remove the old if you have it.

Anyway,
Have a nice day

This patch (although modified code-wise) hit the trunk at 18:18 today, as revision 10254. Very nice job!!
