ToyLand Graphics Conversion

Post by mp3Pro »

Anyone interested in forming a team to convert the Toyland graphics into something useable?

Be warned that a lot of the new vehicle sets currently in the pipeline work by "borrowing" the vehicle slots from the toyland landscape that most people do not use. If I were you I would hold fire until the next patch version comes out in its final non-alpha/beta version and a few of the vehicle sets have come out, so you can see what form they take. As there could be the potential for conflicts, eg, the toyland landscape has no vehicles maybe. Nothing that cannot be fixed I would not have thought, but nonetheless it would be very annoying to start a huge project and then find you've got to do it again...

I think you can make all the temperate engines available in the new climate too.

I would like to join you but I have to agree to Tom that we should wait a little longer untill a final version comes out.

Yes I must agree. In futere it will be possible to use the toyland graphics in the same way as the new vehicle graphics from Michael. So then we can ad a lot of new graphics to the game, by only changing the toyland graphics in to watever we want.

If you use the increadibly good program named "TTD Alter" made by Owen Rudge, you can make all locos become available in the Toyland.
In fact, all vehicles could be available there.
(I did so with the arctic/tropical diesels)

What i had in mind was splitting the tasks among 5- 10 ppl.. that way no 1 person is overburdened . when we got it finished pack it in a self extracting grd that way it could be installed as need.

Ok how about if we split it up into say 3 different groups....

the first group will remake the trees, shrubs, rocks, and grass....
the second group will handle like buildings
the third group will switch the industeries around into usable ones

Also has to be a decision made on the Climate, and to what sort of industeries will be included.....

Looking for any help, suggestions, moral support...... LOL

Funny you should mention that.

A while back I modified a number of the trains in the temperate landscape and added a few more by using the arctic/subtropical trains, just for my personal use. This was long before the current TTDPatch - I did it with a combination of TTDAlter, GRFCodec and renaming the vehicles!

It worked, but it was fiddly to transfer to other TT versions. What it means now is that I will have to make this vehicle set again, so that they can be used with the new patch!

This is why I urged caution on starting to play around with the toyland landscape - I would hate you to waste hours of time like I did.

I've long thought of an 'East Asia' style landscape.
Possible industries could be 'bamboo forest', coal mine, 'bauxite mine', 'aluminium mill', factory, 'silver mine', power station and some others.
