Because your link is not a valid adress. If your adress is, for example, http://www.mysite.nl/blaet, you can enter it as both:
giving: Blaet
or:
making http://www.mysite.nl/blaet to get a link.

afraid it looks as if you need the http:// there. Not even <that> works without http://
