Hi guys!

As I promised, here is my revised Swiss rolling stock. I reviewed all of my steamers and electrics drawn so far, and shrunk the sprites so that now they obey the standard TTD sizes.

James, could you please replace the old sprites with these ones? Hopefully, since they now follow the rules, we shouldn't see the tenders so far from their steamers. Also, could you try and see if you can implement the animation as well? I'd like to see how they look in the game!

Please remember a couple of things: I noticed that some of the stats were messed up, especially the running costs (which were way too high). Maybe you still haven't set them up for any other engine?
Also, I didn't have the chance to test the Ge 6/6 I (the Rhatian crocodile), but remember that the blue livery, which should appear late in the game, is supposed to be blue, even though I used company colors (they were the ones that best matched the original model). So remember this when you code the engine.

As for the freight wagons, here is the first draft of a list as I could picture it right now. I tried to put all the main car types used in Switzerland and in the neighboring countries, trying to give some variety to all the TTD eras. I also completed a list for the narrow gauge stuff. What do you think? Do we have enough IDs for all those? If not, you might want to drop some, I put the priority level of each car (from those we will absolutely need, to those who are there just for historical reasons).

Speaking about IDs: the more I think of it, there more I'm convinced we do need the Bm 4/4 II I mentioned in my earlier post. The other early diesel engine we have is cool, but it comes from a German design. This one is really swiss ;)

Another one we might need is the Gem 4/4 narrow gauge of RhB. This dual power diesel-electric loco built in 1966 could work on non-electrified narrow gauge tracks in the later years, thus could come in handy after the narrow gauge steamers are no longer available as an alternative to electrification (this will of course work only when when NewRoutes gives us electrified narrow gauge tracks).

Maybe now, that we stil don't have any freight cars ready, you might want to keep the original TTD wagons? So that the alpha version of your set can be used to transport freight as well...

Enjoy!

Snail

To James: please disregard the previously posted .ZIP file and download this one... there was a mistake on many of my steamers' cabviews in the northbound diagonal views (thanks to Singaporekid for pointing it out!)

You did edit your newgrf config in openttd.cfg , and started a new game, and waited till you are like a year after the the first vehicle should be available?

The swiss set does not have any modern engines yet, Try starting earlier, for example in about 1950.

Magnus, i appreciate your interest :)

Unfortunately, work and progress has been awfully slow here, as ive had lots of work to do, only picking this up when i have the time and motivation :(

If you check out the Tracking Table it is pretty much up-to-date as far as whats coded and what isnt is concerned, also, if you check back through the pages in this thread, you can see that engines and/or rolling stock have been added in small clumps, with an additional download available, im afraid the first post is very out-of-date, i really should update it, the most recent download is always available in the thread near the end though :)

As reards modern locomotives, to see them all (old and new) use a cheat to skip forward to something like 2010 or onwards, and if lokking in an electrified depot, all possible stock will be shown in its current state, there are quite a few locos there considered fairly modern (like the Re 460 of the SBB, and the GGB DMU to name but a few) as i said, the easiest way is just to check it out :wink:

Any further questions, please dont hesistate to ask :)

Snail: Sorry i havent got around to updating your sprites yet, i keep meaning to but work gets in the way :( Ill let you know when i eventually do it :P

Cheers
James

Don't worry about it. It's actually good that you still did't update them, because they need one last retouch (mainly the tenders have to be redone). Just let me work on them a bit more and I'll post the updated sprites.

I'd also love to do the early electrics, and I will do them sooner or later if you can wait, but right now I have really a lot of things to do with other sets. I'd also like to officially start the Italian set some day in the mid-term future :p

Yeah, you need to (or use cheats), as a lot of Switzerland's trains use an overhead pantograph in real-life, so i have made it as realistic as possible :)

It definetly adds to the experience :wink:

Ideally, we would need the overhead catenary on narrow gauge tracks as well! :p

That's possible, IIRC. Hang on a moment...

EDIT: Action D, Variable 9E, Bit 5

As promised, I've just finished fine-tuning my work so far for your set. Here you get the sprites, already cut in their final TTD sizes to make your life easier. Seen the huge amount of stuff I still need to draw, I think it would be better if you created the .GIF animation files, so I can work on something new right away.

I saw your tracking table has long been unchanged. How many free IDs do we still have? If we still have some, I would suggest to add:

- the BLS Be 5/7 early electric;
- the SBB Bm 4/4 II early diesel;
- the Gem 4/4 modern narrow gauge diesel/electric dual engine;
- the SBB "Tigerli" E3/3 steamer; at first I thought it would be too small for the set, but since Purno asked me to do it, you can have it as well;
- the Ea 3/6, belonging to a secondary railway that later merged into BLS. This is an interesting one; a 132-type fast tank steamer used on flat lines. I've never drawn anything similar and I'm sure it would be fun to do it, if you want it.

If we are short of IDs, we could easily shrink some engines together. For instance, I saw you put the SBB and the BLS version of some locos in different IDs; I think we could merge them and use livery refitting to activate either. This could be done with the Re 4/4 I, the Re 420, the Re 460 and 465...

Here are the sprites, let me know.

Cheers!

It´s not such uncommon. Nevertheless an interesting design, because even in 1955 the DB commissioned a 1'C2' engine, the BR66. The reason for having two wheels under the tender is o/c based on the desire for long runs and hence the need for larger stocks of coal and water.

"Livery refit" for engines is only possible if carrying cargo.

Thanks for your tip! ;)
I was referring to the fact that I never drew any engines with such characteristics and it would be fun to draw. It would also introduce variety in the very beginning of the set, when it would be one of the fastest locomotives.

Do you happen to have a technical drawing of that Ea 3/6 as well? All I found was the drawing on top of this page; it's not bad to start drawing, but if the various lengths were marked it would be even better.

I was also thinking adding the CFe 2/6 would be cool! That is, if we have enough free IDs...

Yes, this is true. But we could have the liveries display at random first, and then having them refittable as we add wagons to them.

The Be5/7 is there, it is the sprite that is (wrongly) taken for the Be4/6.

half year ago:
Quote:
I made a Be5/7 but this was changed to Be4/6 since at that time there was no Be5/7 in the tracking table.

http://mypage.bluewin.ch/bruno.laemmli/ ... Be_5-7.htm

But the change to Be4/6 was only in the - view for the middle wheel ...

I don't know if this "bug" was already discussed, but all my engines have the same price: 310000CHF when the game starts!

Is there a way to change this?
