XeryusTC wrote:The entire racing genre has been turned upside down since NFS: Underground. About every racing game is now meant to be a street racing game with the exception of Gran Turismo and rallying games it seems, and the racing simulators but those are a completely different cup of tea IMO. Almost every game allows you to customize and upgrade your car and has various different race types all mixed up. I liked it in NFS:U and its sequel, but after that it just became annoying and more of the same-y. I blame The fast and the furious for it.
I would agree with you for the large part, but Test Drive Unlimited isn't a strict street racing game per-say, sort of half way between that and a more regular game. However, you did forget about NFS Pro Street, which certainly isn't either a sim or a street racing game. Still, it's a shame - racing belongs on a track (or rally stage), not on public streets, and with proper cars, not jumped-up Peugeot 206s and Honda Civics that aren't even top-spec, or the latest model for said game...

I also did that with Harriers: Giving him the weapon of the Eiffeltower: the Eiffelbolt! Only it is unbalanced when you do that with Nukes...
What you can/can't see is that i also can build Civilian cars, the Pentagon, the Statue of Liberty, ofcourse the Eiffel Tower and all kinds of stuff you only see in Campaigns with a little bit editing of the Rules.ini...

I like my racing games to be proper, realistic racing games.

Except Mario Kart!

I forgot to take shots near the beginning/middle of the game, as I was concentrating more on not losing ^^.
These were after I put the AI on its back foot.

Edit:
The last one shows some actual combat from a previous game.
Ha, I have just been on a crazy TA binge and bought an original boxed copy of this!
It was only £11!

These aren't screenshots, but I just liked the soundtrack from that game so much:

Actual orchestras make a game's soundtrack so much better!

It's this track which really does it for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gajD7rrp3s
I've been known to frequently play it even when I'm not gaming ^^.

Orchestral soundtrack for a RTS game in 1997? That's epic.

...I like classic 90's game soundtracks better anyways.

Yep, and it was all composed by Jeremy Soule too, one of his first.

So, I was playing Finland. My ally, Scotland, requested my help in the war against England. All logical, since England is much more powerful. However, Scotland had been absolutely clever and invaded England when most of their troops were in France. Fighting the French.

Here's what it looked like within two months of the declaration of war, in England:

Of course, playing Finland, I was allied to Sweden. I did not like the idea of that, however, and decided to invade the Swedes. Little did I know that both Denmark and Norway would take the Swedish side in the war, effectively making it a war between Finland and the rest of Scandinavia. This is the result...:

Some Duke Nukem Forever. Honestly, everyone complained that this game was rubbish, but I'm really enjoying it - it's just what I wanted. Of course, I'm only just after where Duke's girls are stolen, so maybe it gets worse. I don't know.

As a Swede, I find that picture highly offensive! It'd be so much better if it said "Sweden" instead of "Finland" :P

Europa Universalis 3. With all the expansions, because the game was released a fair few years back but the most recent expansion was released back in December 2010. It's really an in-depth strategy game, but well worth taking your time to learn it

So you remember how I said England got it handed to them by the Scottish? Here's an update!

The year is 1546, and displays the aftermath from the 1545 English Reconquest of Yorkshire. England lost big time after invading Scotland, mainly thanks to Scotland being allied to me and Wales and Connacht (the nation out on Ireland). England simply had 100% of their territory occupied within a few months and had to surrender a lot of land to the Scottish.

Some sidenotes:
1. Notice the lack of France in.. France. Instead, minor provinces such as Champagne, Normandy, Guyenne and Britanny have all secured independence. The capital, Paris, is actually part of Scotland.
2. Notice the huge Castille (Spain) expanding deep into French territory.
3. The small countries west of England are (in purple) Wales and (in pink) Cornwall. Wales is allied to Scotland, Cornwall is allied to me. I am, in addition to Cornwall, allied with Scotland, Sweden, Hungary and the small Dutch nation Flanders (Vlaanderen).

Slovak fire extinguisher (or whatever that thing is) in Crysis 2!

Vstup zakazany - do not enter.
Vstup pod napatim zakazany - makes no sense, but could be translated as "do not enter under high voltage" (like I said, that makes no sense... unless you're wearing Nanosuit)
Trencin is Slovak town.

I have no idea why they thought one shouldn't enter fire extinguishers, but it's cool.

seems more like some kind of doorhandle to me for a room (elektrical) with high voltage that you should not enter.

Especially the sign with the human walking and a red circle+line through it.

Some FSX screenshots.
1) A Boeing 737-800 on the start of the Approach into Norwich after a flight from Manchester. I practice a lot of my Flying on this route as it is Short but offers some challenges when landing (Especially in a Boeing 747  )

A Sims 2 house that took me AGES to make. I built an even bigger house later, but the rooms were too big and the environment variable was just broken, always on red!
