What Packer you use?

Post by SHADOW-XIII »

simple questions , I create topic to point always here when someone has got problems with RAR's etc

----------

In my opinion WinRar is the best, it support many, many formats (zip, rar, tar, gz, arj, ace ...) even ISO files ... but it is not free (however WinZip isn't to) [WinRar HomePage]

cares people who want open ALL Packer files using 1 tool

I normally use Norton Commander to unpack or pack different formats.

I use Total Commander to zip stuff up, and most of the time I use ARJ if I need to split files up :)

I like UltimateZip; it has no nag screens or anything, and so far it's unpacked every packed file I've come across. :)

I use WinZip 9.0 beta for most things. When unRARing RARs though, I use WinRAR (funnily enough), as well as when backing up my e-mail every month, as it compresses better.

I don't need to back up my email as my Inbox is full of TRNs and PMNs. If someone emails me though, I put it in my Savebox which is actomatticly backed up :P

I have over 700MB of Outlook Express DBX files (all my e-mail since September 1999), which shrinks to 200MB or so compressed, so keeping it backed up is quite important.
