Nice before and after shots. Much appreciated.

As for the road crossings it usually comes down to which NewGrf is in a lower position on the NewGrf list. I generally use YARRS and the North American Road Set and have found that if the road set is below the rail set in the list then you will get the crossings from the road set. It has been a while since I have done so but I am guessing that the inverse is also true. If the rail set is below the road set on the list then you will get the crossing from the rail set or the default crossings if the rail set does not have crossings.

These make me want to pick up OTTD again! But at the risk of getting too addicted, I'm trying not to pick it up until I return back to Britain in September...

did some rereading in your thread, and saw the boston post. There isn't a direct link between north and south station, you have to transfer to the subway, and then transfer to another subway to get back and forth. It's a PIA, but I'd rather not have to pay for the expensive connection. There IS a small inner city frieght line that connects the too, called the Grand Junction. It's really only used for equipment transfer though.

Ps. Your south station looks a lot like Boston's north station.

Pss. There is Amtrak service out of both the North and South stations in Boston, the Northern one has amtrak service going to Portland Maine. There's also a ton of commuter lines on the northside, athough they haven't built a branch to peabody or danvers yet unfortunately.

City station set methinks.

Anyway compliments for your station layouts, I actually feel kinda embarrassed because I just realized that I've been laying out stations in a very unstylish manner. :D

The ones with the over passes are from PGS, Project Generic Stations. Search for the thread and their on page 17 if I remember right.

I've decided to return to my fictional US game..(again). That's the one where I'm running a network in the USA but in a very British way! No-one seemed to take offence by the idea last time I posted shots from that game so I'll post some more!

This time, I've had a go with running timetables. Trying to run frequent services on a tight network is difficult and I've had to make sure that there is sufficient layovers at appropriate stations or passing loops on single track lines are well placed etc. At the same time, I want to time it so that there are so many services per hour, or one per hour etc. So I've been using multiples and divisions of 60 which thanks to the features in the patch pack I use, isn't too difficult.

I don't want massive 20 platform stations, I'd rather the challenge of timing 10 services to use a four platform terminus efficiently. To add to the challenge, I'm applying British train operating companies to the US so where they have to share stations will make it even more difficult!

So, the first company is Virgin Trains. I've given Virgin Trains the Great Lakes area to run services in. They use New York Grand Central as their main terminus and run Pendolinos to Toronto, Niagara Falls, Cleveland and Chicago and a Voyager service to Detroit, (no wires between Toledo and Detroit!) Voyagers also run between Cleveland Tower Centre and Chicago.

First up, I've made a really bad network map showing their routes:

Here are the two stations at Buffalo, a Voyager has just left Depew station bound for Detroit:

and finally, New York Grand Central, where a Pendolino awaits departure for Cleveland Tower Centre (they leave every 28 minutes past the hour):

I've actually got two US games going at the moment. Both use British trains. The one I've shown you already has British style franchises in the US. The other game...I'll let the pictures do the talking! (Using current and discontinued routes....)

Ha! I knew I'd make a mistake somewhere! Where in the US would you like to see?

I've got city ran local services also running around most of the big cities now. I've also started some other projects on the map to give competition to Amtrak. Midwestern Rail are running as well as the Ohio Hub project. Currently working on Georgia Rail. Some parts of the map are very quiet though...you'd be lucky to see a train.

Can I see NY Penn and Chicago Union please? Also Atlanta?

PS Can I have your scenario?

Here you go.

First up is New York Penn.

Next is Atlanta, only has the Amtrak Crescent and one city train (a second hand 101) right now...but is about to be the centre of Georgia Rail.

And Chicago Union. This is a mess of a station right now. I've added 2 extensions to it. The eastern extension to handle services from the North East and Michigan. Midwestern Rail have exclusive use of the western extension...although an Amtrak service will use it when there are no other platforms available. It needs to be a big station as many routes meet here and I need a lot of services to have layovers here in their timetables...which takes up platform space.

As for my scenario....you won't want it...I've mucked around it with so much since I first got hold of it as far as new grf's go. It's going to be buggy and broken beyond belief! If it's any help, I used the US Coast to Coast scenario as a starting point...which I think is on the forum somewhere.

Can I still have your scenario? NewGRFs are irrelevant.

Can I see Birmingham (is that where the Crescent meets the Floridian?)

Last one tonight then....

You're in luck...Birmingham is the exact point where the Floridian and the Crescent meet...as seen here. Although if I'm honest, the Floridian is running a little late.

I'll try to PM you my scenario as it is tomorrow..there are towns in the wrong place though. I'll have to take the company owned property as I've added a few towns as I've gone along.

I'm back!

Found my old Waveney Island scenario (some shots of which are earlier in this thread). Sadly, it was the version before I put the roads on. So I decided to start a game in 1700 and replace the roads but use the subsidies to dictate where I lay them, rather than go back into the sceario editor and lay all the roads again. Thought it would be interesting to see what sort of road layout I got. As you can see, I've been a bit trigger happy with new objects as well! Anyway, been playing for 100 years and have just been enjoying building and placing a few simple routes here and there. Looking forward to 1830 when I can start a few rail routes.

Here are some shots of the game so far.

Oulton, the capital city of Waveney Island.

And a couple of other shots of various activity happening around the island.

Railways should be coming soon...for now, I'm enjoying connecting stuff together using roads.
