New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen

New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen
IMO, it'd be better if new view points open centered on the mouse, not the middle of the screen.
This is a small thing that's been niggling me coz the only time I use the viewpoints is when zoomed right out, and as it is I find myself always moving the main view just to get the viewpoint to open on the right spot, thinking 'it'd be nice if it just opened showing what the mouse is over...'

Not saying that your suggestion is a bad one but where will the extra viewport center on if you open it by means of the toolbar and the mousepointer is over at a button?

The button
Yeah good point, maybe it'd be best if it only centered on the mouse when you use a keyboard shortcut to open the viewpoint and center on the main view if you use the menu.

Re: New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen
Just to give you a hard time and increase my postcount ...
I am giving my trains some orders, I open the extra viewport by means of the shortcut to find the other station but my mouse is still over the orders gui. What happens in this case?

Re: New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen
That's cool, my postcount could use some upping too
In that case, the viewpoint would open containing what's under the orders gui... for the first couple of times until you learnt that you can put the mouse near where you need to move the viewpoint and it'll open showing that.
In that example you would need to move the viewpoint to find the other station anyway, right?
Or maybe there could be an interface option to select either the 'original - center on screen' or 'center on mouse' behavior, so the behavior remained unchanged by default.
There's also the 'Copy to Viewpoint' button to center it on the screen.
Thing is, I don't think I've ever used the viewpoints without either moving them or the main view in order to get what I want to see in the viewpoint, and I think it would be easier to just be able to point at what you want to see & hit V.

Re: New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen
to add a level of crazyness:
what if i open a viewport while my mouse is in a window which has a viewport?

Re: New viewpoints center on mouse, not middle of screen
I dunno, just make it center on the mouse, so if the mouse is in a vewport or a train window it would center there.
So do you folks like this idea or not?
