planetmaker wrote: I have never tested that, but I assume that will fail nicely, if you try to replace OpenGFX sprites as I expect that you'll need to use appropriately named folders.
It works if you run the original sprites.
That is how I made this screenshot: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=47593

I never tried replacing OpenGFX sprites before but I did just now.
I tried putting those sprites in data/sprites/ogfx_toyland and that did not work.

But before posting the above,
I had a little looksie here: http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/ope ... ow/sprites and renamed my folder to ogfxt_toyland and success, it works.

So adding a few folders namely: ogfx1_base, ogfxc_artic, ogfxe_extra, ogfxh_tropical, ogfxi_logos and ogfxt_toyland and then putting the sprites in there should work.
As mentioned before the trg** folders can be used for replacing the original sprites if one is using those. :)

Thank you for making me make investigate this planetmaker.

ps:
For he who want to use this method, do not forget to remove those sprites after testing or you will be reporting bugs that are not in the OpenGFX sprites but in your data/sprites folder.

if you need higher sprites, I would suggest making them "really" higher, something like 199px, else it could happen, we need a 3rd format :-)

Also you need to adjust the house/tile/whatever to the bottom line of the sprite. How should we make that clear in the template?

Edit: removed note about 66px width, might be even better with 64px. :-)

Sorry for causing so much inconvenience, I am new to these standards.
Anyway, here are the fixed ones, the templates are now defined 64 x 150.
Correct me if I'm wrong, is the maximum width of a single sprite is 64px?
If so, I suggest setting the width of the template as 64px, as this can prevent drawing over-width sprites.
And I have tweaked 4465, I have done some lightening instead of darkening, the effect seems to be better.
Also 4675 and 4676, which is better, A, B or C? I prefer A
removed note about 66px width, might be even better with 64px.
Offtopic, living in different parts of the world, I guess I have to wait.

Here are the two 64 templates I used, if they are useful. I don't know what 'offset' is, so I leave the information there.

Which should I use? The 66px or 64px one?

Sorry for double posting due to attachment limits, but please re-read this and the above post as something has changed.
I looked at the tasklist in the devzone, can I help recolour the candy factory to company colours?

I was wondering, would it be ok to use some graphics from OpenGFX?

Sure yes as implied by the license. In short: you comply with the GPL if you give credits and use the GPL yourself and offer to provide the sources upon request.

On the other hand, if you want to 'just' modify existing industries in their behaviour you don't need to provide any graphics at all but 'just' code which modifies their behaviour.

If you like to use graphics with other license, you need to ask the origin author...

Well, Im asking because I might combine parts of other graphics in OpenGFX for some industries, Like Adding Oil Refinery tanks to the priniting works to make it look like a Chemical Works without editing the graphics

There is no difference of just reusing or alter the graphics.

If your release will also be GPL, just use whatever you like and however you like. Nobody needs to be asked, but credited.

If you like to release it with another license you need permission from the origin author which you got from the list above.

P.S. of course, if you have a release, it would be nice to drop a note about here... :-)

In the last two weeks the alignment of the trains has been reworked completely as it got broken somewhat in the last release; this is a bigger fix. There's still a lot of other things to do and where I'd like to ask for artists' help. Just to name a few important ones:

- OpenGFX has no hay or straw bales on the fields. We could need a sprite with that (issue #682)
- The default signals could use better visibility; the light is just one pixel which sometimes is a bit too little. The signals in the original set have 2 pixels for the lights which makes for much better visibility (issue 840)
- The eyes of some European company mangers still show that they have a high spice consumption. Maybe someone wants to create some less spice-blue eyes for them? (issue #683)
- The airport hangar needs a re-touch as it is too long (issue #810)

There's still a lot of tiny bits and pieces which could be improved. Have a look at the complete list of issues at the bug tracker

Yup, you would have to draw new tracks. Bear in mind it is now very easy to add new track graphics via newgrf...

Regarding the icon discussion, I think it would be good if the exclamation mark is changed to a question mark as it would help when you help users to open the console if you could ask them to click on the question mark button without first having to know which base set they are using.

Cool, though aren't the profit icons a CC recolouring trick?

We discussed this topic today on #openttd and got to the result that the current "profit icon" is used for very different purposes. E.g. it is also used for server compatibility, and presence of online content...

Therefore we decided to add new icons instead:
- Four icons for profit. Used in the vehicle list, and in the network lobby.
- A icon for "exclusive transport" rights in the town view.
- A icon for the statusbar, which flashes when news arrive which are set to "off".

Independent of OpenGFX, I tried to draw some icons which should match the original graphics.
Current results:
http://devs.openttd.org/~frosch/blobreplacments.png
http://devs.openttd.org/~frosch/icons3.png
Already known: The white needs to be more greyish. The red is somewhat ugly.
