Has anyone played the new Demo? It's pretty awesome. If you've played the originals, it's pretty much like that.

I would imagine Tropico 3 will appeal to players of TTD! The game is now in 3d, but is surprisingly awesome. Even on the highest settings, it's quite nippy!

I'd say the biggest new features would be roads, which you can do without if you want, but allow for your settlement to spread over a wide area. They allow your workers, goods and soldiers to get to places quickly!

If you've got the demo, what did you think of it? If you haven't, what are you waiting for? Go fetch!

Heard about it and tried to download yesterday but it failed continously. Trying again now.

Indeed, I have got the demo, after asking Born Acorn who said it really quite alright!

And indeed, it is really quite alright!

Yup, I must agree. Now wait for the full release, it looks and feels fine. I like the smart approach of camera movement btw. And the obvious snear at dictatorship (Dave, a game for you?) is nice too. I just wonder when exactly the voice of your advisor will become annoying.

I must say though, the radio guy is minorly annoying, and doesn't shut up. (the "advisor" guy) I wish they'd given him multiple lines for each thing, it is repetative, the music also got on my nipples after several hours of play. I also notice the games FPS is quite low on my low end card (Just an 8100), I was partially hoping they'd be nice to fans with lower end systems, but heh. Disabling shadows helped somewhat, I'll have to get a new card for the full release.

Hmm, what settings? I have to play with everything on low, and shadows off, at 1440 by 900 res (I think?) I got about 15FPS max, using onboard GeForce 8100

Plays a bit hicky on my PC too, at 1440x900. Try some adjusting of the anti-aliasing, Jolteon. I haven't done it myself but from other games I know it does the trick (I have an 8200 btw).

Hm, I have Anti-aliasing off, i'm sure, i'll just quickly launch and check it.

EDIT: see attachment, it's all as low as it'll get :(

Well, 8100 isn't exactly powerhouse. What similiar games can you run on it?

Well, nothing "similiar" but it does TF2 up to 30 FPS, L4D up to 40, it can even do GTA:IV at up to 15! But Tropico 3 performs just as bad as GTA:IV on it.

EDIT: Anyone noticed the many spelling errors in Tropico 3?

I noticed a few, but the game is made by an East European company.

I say the FPS was good for me, with a 64bit processor and 4Gb of RAM, but I have a GTX 295 as well, so that may have helped!

Rather painful, as it's a game made together with nVidia :D.

Decreasing resolution won't help?

Muchos enjoyed it. Good fun. And Jolteon, just turn the music and/or the radio off.

The sound made me cry, and something with the graphics made it malfunction completely. I shut it off before the guy had stopped speaking page 1 of his tutorial. Awful experience, I hope it's down to the download going slightly wrong and not my computer being unable to run it

Well, tried fiddling, can't get better. Tropico 3 performs best at this quality for me: http://files.uploadffs.com/c/e619c82d/trop3.PNG.

Why buy a game, just to disable some of it ;)

the graphics remind me of the C&C: Generals (zero hour) game engine >_>

Which is definitely not a pro :p
