You can use about anything. We use Volkswagen, Opel, Renault, Iveco, Mercedes and other types. Never seen a "18 wheeler"/Semi-trailer with valuables. No insurance company would insure a load like that anyway. This and this is the 2nd largest valuable vehicle I've seen in our country, while (WARNING, the image is something like 140 MB)this(WARNING, the image is something like 140 MB) is the largest

Though it doesn't matter how big the vehicle is, there's usually always a limit to how much you're allowed to drive around with, and if it goes over a certain (quite low actually) value you need police escort.
WTF 140 MB for 2 pictures :S

In Holland we have this. Looks a bit like the Scania.

For collection from shops and such that van is used, but i have seen the valuables truck above in the UK (not just in holland). But you don't see them very often because they tend not to drive on busy roads.

Can't remember having seen any, and I've been through everything.

I have a question on legal issues. Is it legal to take pictures of LEGO and put it ingame? If you build a locomotive (not using the standard models) and take pictures of it from different angles. Pictures of real things are usually not copyrighted?

Would be quite a project to do it for all sprites in toyland of course, but many sprites such as roads and railroads can be made rather easily as those are standard LEGO pieces.

The L*G* company already forbids mentioning its name in context other than with its physical building blocks.

I don't know if It its legal, but there was a replacement project of toyland sprites with L-G- pieces:

I think that this project doesn't need 3D software. All the graphic work could be done with Inkscape, A. Illustrator...

You should consider reading the LEGO Fair Play Guidelines, rather than asking here.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Did read them now (thanks  ). Don't think they are clear on this issue, except for giving a general impression that they would not like it. I understand if noone has sufficient knowledge of copyright law in here though.

The law is the same for all companies and trademarks, so strictly speaking, what the fair play guidelines say is not what really matters. Of course it would be impolite to come too close to breaking the law.

Anyway, I thought it was a relevant suggestion for toyland. By the way, it does not have to be LEGO® bricks. The same idea could be implemented by taking pictures of models made of play foam, clay, wood or something else. An advantage is that it will not necessarily occupy the people who are making other graphics (except the nfo people), since it takes different skills. :)

They seem to be attempting to prevent the Lego name becoming so popular that it becomes a generic term, and so the copyright is lost.

This isn't a problem. Call them OGEL bricks.

We don't need the word "Lego", and You can use a generic word like brickland replacement.

Also, all road vehicles has been coded, and most of the houses has been coded. If someone wants model more houses, I can code them.

It was a lot of work, and the rear wagons are not coded. I will release the next Spain set GRF file with 8 bpp sprites for new cargos.

I have modeled this forest house from ECS wood vector (drawn by George). I have modeled it instead of a original industry because It was lees complex than other industries.

I have done most of the shapes. But... I need some help with the textures. What textures do You recommend me for the roof and the walls?

Also, if someone wants texture it, I will send him the model. I want release this model under a CC BY or CC BY-SA license. This means that I can't use textures that don't allow commercial uses in my model.

ECS Printing works

Post by maquinista »

This is the ECS Printing works that I have modeled and coded in these days. It isn't very good, but it works well with the animation. The small building can have some changes in the future (the entrance).

Also, there are some little details that can be added in the big building, but most of the main shapes can't be changed, because I could break the animation effects or the sprite layout. For example, I can't change the trucks entrance size or position.

I will upload the blend file to the repository.

I don't know if it's just me being sleepy, but the printing works just appeared to me like a bunch of blocks.. Then looked at it more closesly and saw, ah it's a house :D
PS: And I stopped the propaganda to support Dave Worley since he got a nice new red hat now.[/color]
I know I have a BBCode error in my signature but I really cba to fix it.

Thanks, that's true, the building needs more details, and the small building needs more changes. The small building doesn't have animation elements, and can be modified freely.

Also, I need some help with the textures of the forest house.

You have the downloads listed here:
http://wiki.openttd.org/32bpp_Extra_Zoom_Levels

And here is the topic with the latest releases.

Sometimes, there are different TAR files for the same element, and You only need download one of them. For example, You can choose between a plain ground, a ground with grass, and a ground with grass and lines in the borders.

Also, sometimes I post the TAR files here, if They are not finished or They are previews.

What do You think about this farm silo?

It has some details from these silos:

Also, I need help with the texture of the farm roofs.

Looks very nice. But I think the 'roof' shouldn't have such clear transitions, i know that's just the lighting hitting the polygons. But maybe you could blend those edges a bit?

Sure, these things are made from plates, there will be some edges. But not this many.

Thanks, I have changed it with a cone of 128 sides instead of 32. Also, I have modeled a small wood warehouse:
