now that was specific - all i know is that you have a server, and dont know how to handle it - i dont even know what os it's got installed - way to go sir! way to go

In order to answer your initial question: there is no need for a server to be registered. It will register itself with the master server once it is up and running and has a working internet connection.

As it seems you still have a long way to go till there, though. Though I'm not dihedral, I'm pretty sure that he isn't interested in anything in particular as you fail to actually have a problem IMO but want a cake-walk from installing a server from scratch up to running a working OpenTTD server. You better do some reading in the first place.
