STEAM ... ???
why is open ttd not on steam ....
i know its open source but it should sooooo be on there ....
correct me if im wrong
isnt the open ttd engine a complete remake of TTD ?
couldnt you look @ launching a steam version with a new graphics pack ?
* it would help bring a new audience to the game and make the multiplayer much easier to find & join games + updates etc
just a suggestion
hope everyones well
regards
John

Re: STEAM ... ???
Section E of Steam's Subscriber Agreement seems to be conflicting with OpenTTD's license. Steam says you may not copy/reproduce/modify whatever is accessible via Steam whereas OpenTTD's license grants you the right to copy/reproduce/modify as long as you follow some rules (distributing the source).
As a result of that I'd say adding it to Steam is a big no-no.
Even then, I've not found a single Open Source game in Steam's list of games or an Open Source category. Which makes it quite likely that Open Source games aren't meant to be on Steam's system.

What's the big deal anyway? I've always managed to find games that interest me without having to download a program that tells me about them. Games websites and magazines work just as well, IMO.

Well... When the game starts, there are plenty of engines running on steam...
If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.

Re: STEAM ... ???
that is not true, i tried starting a game in 1730, and there were no steam engines available.

There are at least two grf's out there that have horse drawn vehicles that allow for very early (before railroads) start dates.

Re: STEAM ... ???
The only game I play on steam from time to time is Counter-Strike. There were times when CS ran without being installed via steam and the majority of players who were already active at that time would probably agree that CS only got worse since steam was introduced. Even if license issues and similar things could be solved, I'd still prefer OTTD without steam.
