I'm behind the times (I know!), but I didn't think 7 was to be released until late this year.

I wouldn't bank on it working somehow.

I heard that windows 7 is totally compatible with xp products. (It's almost like XP but better looking and with more features.) But i'm not totally sure, just try it and tell us!

I'm on XP, and that's where I will stay, if this 7 is all it's hyped to be, I'll wait a year before I install it.

In short, Yes...

I have been running it on 7. So far it is like running it on vista with a few exceptions. the game itself runs fine, it has not created compatibility folder for me yet (when i had UAC on). I'll test out some of the lomo tools later and report any changes...

MY installers all worked with 1 exception. the passenger pack installer crashes 2 out of 3 times with no error given with uac on or off. This does not worry me at as it could be an OS bug and not bad coding on my part. Especially since it is the same code as all the rest of the installers with the name and path changed. Other then this bug, it seemed faster and more stable (then again this is on a brand new PC so everything will seem faster). the vista file copy hang (known bug) that i would sometimes see seems to be gone.

bit off topic
I uninsulated Win7 this morning to test my new super vista DVD i made. it has 2 versions of vista SP2 built and tweaked the way I like it with app's already installed. one version is based on ultimate for my desktops and one stripped way down to XP style based on home for my laptop. It even has LoMo preinstalled it in place of the other games in both flavors. lol :D

After a few more tweaks, I'll put 7 back on and test the tools like loco mod and wrapper (that vista hates when the UAC is on)

It is more like vista Part 2. It is built on top of the vista kernel with the Aero Theme and everything. it is very similar yet different. they actually got rid of some useless bloat like the widgets and the meeting space crap. until it is released I am not to worried what it is like now, everything changes in the end.

All Microsoft does is patch and polish their operating systems and call it a new one, they never bother to start fresh.

After further testing.. It was not a Win7 error. my nice new Seagate 1.5TB drive was at fault. 6 hour lifespan for a new drive.. sheesh talk about quality.... RIP.

Just thought I would add my two cents.. am running wind'ohs! 7 Beta (build 7000) in VirtualBox and LoMo seems to run just fine. I've setup a shared folder between the host (Ubuntu Linux) and the virtual Winders machine for copying files between the two.

Since I have been having trouble installing some of the mod packs through Wine, I install them in Windows, then simply copy the files/folders over to the host machine.. and voila!

It's aliiiiiiiiiive!

The best way to run Windows, is in a window.. :P

Hey just thought I would point this out. If you decide to buy Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional, or Enterprise, it comes (for free) with a virtual image of XP running in a modified VirtualPC application. This way you don't have to worry about any capatibility issues.

Ya, I just heard about that yesterday. That would definitely be useful, especially for those of us who use older programs that just won't work well enough on Windows 7. Though in relation to Locomotion, only problem I have had is the palette being shifted every time when I switch resolutions, despite every preventive measure. In contrast, I've had issues running RCT2 on 64-Bit Windows 7...

I have yet to play loco with the US packs, I haven't gotten around to grabbing the installers from my XP partition...

Having two screens, I have noticed it does that in Vista too, but oddly, when Im watching stuff in the other screen, it all looks fine, which is odd.

I feel Vista's gotten a bum rap to be honest, Ive had it for a year ot two, and apart from a couple of games (most of which were in someway related to LucusArts oddly enough), I have suffered no major issues with it (and since the last service pack came out, I've had *no* problems I can atribute to the OS).
