Re: New Person got Questions
There is this add on which allows me to get GRF's on the main menu. How do i get this because I have 0.63?
Re: New Person got Questions
If you mean "download" with "get" (i.e. the content download service), you need to use a nightly version to have that. Of course most multiplayer servers are running on 0.6.3, and you can't connect to them if you use a different version of OpenTTD.Morgsie wrote:There is this add on which allows me to get GRF's on the main menu. Or did you mean something else?
Re: New Person got Questions

Re: New Person got Questions
By reading the manual and doing what it says.Morgsie wrote:When I serve a town with loads of trains, the Local authority rating is appalling, How do i get it Up?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Re: New Person got Questions
Whoah, Morgsie! There's nothing wrong with asking the community a few questions, but perhaps you're overdoing it here!
The Wiki has a lot of information, so read that. You might learn a few things you hadn't even thought about. I wouldn't have thought about shared orders if I hadn't read about them on the wiki for example.
Anyway, good to see new people continuing to come to OTTD!

We are #openttdcoop. Playing openttd in a cooperative way on our dedicated servers; new people which like that type of play are always welcome. For details see my signature.Morgsie wrote:What is openttdcoop?

Re: New Person got Questions
But make sure to upload just a screenshot, not a word document with a screenshot inside.
Re: New Person got Questions
How do i upload a screenshot because Im have difficulties?
Re: New Person got Questions
In the game, press "ctrl+s". The screenshot will be stored in the same directory where openttd.cfg is. Most likely one of "My Documents\OpenTTD\" or "C:\Program Files\OpenTTD\". Now you've found the screenshot, just add it to as an attachment.Morgsie wrote:How do i upload a screenshot because Im have difficulties?
Re: New Person got Questions
Thank you for the advice Yexo.
What signal configuration will i need for this junction/
Eastbound traffic is the top rail and westbound rail is the bottom rail. The aim is traffic on the mine bypass line onto the mine line so I can link more coal mines to the power station connected.

Re: New Person got Questions
How should the junction behave (that is, what trains do you expect from where, and to what direction should they go)?
Also, you have a double track. Assuming one track is for one direction, and the other is for the opposite direction, which track goes in what direction?

Re: New Person got Questions
You didn't say which track goes in which direction, so I assumed that the main line uses the same direction as the entrance to the mine station.
In station1.png (bottom/left), I have recreated your situation (more or less), and added normal signals to it. Basically, you want to have 1 train at the junction, so put a signal in front of it from every direction. Also, after the train has passed you want the junction to become available again as soon as possible, so also add signals at each junction exit.
Note the additional track from the mine to the main line. Trains may wander off to the depot for servicing at the mine, then continue their journey. You don't want such trains to go back all the way. To prevent that, I added some track so trains can go from the mine exit onto the main line in both directions.
Also, note that a train cannot go from the left side of the main track to the mine. If that is wanted, you need to make a larger junction.
At the top/right of station1.png I made the same junction + mine station, except with PBS signals. In that case, you only need to put PBS signals at entries which makes it a lot simpler.
One of the big disadvantages of your design (without PBS signalling) is that traffic in opposite directions get in each others way. One way to solve this is to use tunnels or bridges. In your case, it may also be possible to do something as in station3.png.
Instead of keeping both tracks together, put one at each side of the mine. Also, make the junction bigger, and put signals between both directions of traffic. (With PBS signals, you again only need to do that in front of the junction.) In this way traffic at the main line is kept seperate, which should increase the capacity of the junction.

Re: New Person got Questions
The signalling might be a little difficult to see, but maybe take a look at this station, it's a coal transfer station (short trains gather coal from the mines in the hills, and the long coal trains wait in the valley near the main line. It works fairly well without bridges, as long as you do not stress the capacity of the line too much.

Re: New Person got Questions
You didn't say which track goes in which direction
This should explain which track goes in what direction, I have added signals on the bypass line which should make things clearer.
Cheers for the tips
