Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
Hello there!
Nice to be visiting this forum once again, some of you might remember me, I am working on the map project called Cindini (of wich 2 screenshots are on the main site). I worked on the map for three years and now finally decided to release the Beta so you can all have a go with it. About 1/3 of the map is still not done but the map is more then Large enough to play upon it for hours.
There are many screenshots of the map already but I think it would be interesting to see some nice shots of the map in action (with some realistic tranportation networks) and was hoping that volunteers could help me out with that. The winner can choose a name for the next big metropolis that will be placed in the outher south of the undevelopped part in the next version.
To download the file click on the following link: (unfortunately it's to big to upload on the forum)
http://www.stage-tanzania.nl/openTTDmap ... 20BETA.exe
For more information on the map project visit:

http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... it=cindini
Seeing forward to your replies/screenshots/sugestions or anything you like to post!

Distributing a scenario as an executable? How crazy...

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
I just took a look at the map, VERY impressive ! It would suggest this for inclusion with Openttd if the size is not problematic (5.1 MB). I found some minor imperfections, (disconnected roads for instance) You might want to set up a page where people van easily file bugs, suggest stuff, etc. Maybe even something like a launchpad page would be nice.

Here another link for non-windows users to the .scn file

Please post any kind of imperfections!, as I am looking for them as well

All I can say:
I would reccomend to use some extra building graphics (if there are any available for tropical), the larger cities (especially the city cores) look very monotonous. But the nature is really awesome.
An i really don't understand the executable...why are you trying to convince people to use it? I would always rather use non-executable as it is safer and more straightforward.

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
The exe. file is used becauce it can contain a license agreement and might be handy for unexperienced players that don't know where to put a .scn file.
The building palet in Open TTD is indeed rather limited and especially the cities in Rutanio (should represent plain and undeveloped cities) might seem monotonous. Still most westernised cities (Mia Bonande, Capitola, Ceronio) celebrate some more diversity in buildings.

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
And you might consider just using fewer houses. On my 2.5Ghz Athlon64 X2 it already causes 80% CPU load even when just letting it run without having built anything (without running a profiler my guess is, it's the houses trying to find a station for their produced passengers and mail). So, I'll certainly not play a game on this map even though it looks really great. It would reach the 100% pretty soon (I tried a scenario with a similar insane number of inhabitants recently).CommanderZ wrote:All I can say:

And moreover, it works on any system running OpenTTD not just Windows.CommanderZ wrote:An i really don't understand the executable...why are you trying to convince people to use it? I would always rather use non-executable as it is safer and more straightforward.
But letting all this nagging aside: It really looks great

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
Ive been following this project for some time and Im glad to finally see a release of it thanks Whopper and everyone else on the team
Secondly, its as amazing as I imagined
So now Im working on my screenshot ofc Ill have to build up my routes bit by bit, but at the moment ive done the following
Leone Isle now has a bus network
Cidero Fruit Plantation now has 5 trucks taking the fruit to Leostimar Food Proccesing Plant
The farms over by Pueblo Talioni are slowly being hooked up to a road and given trucks to carry the maize over to a transfer station (truck to train) near Senor Evada Farm there one train running on this single track route and iti runs through the rainforest and to the outskirts of Leostimar where some trucks take the maize on it final journy to the Leostimar Food Processing Plant.
Thats it for now, as Im flat broke and making less money due to most vehicles only getting transfer money.
This is the main Oil Refinery, with the Oil Tanker leaving and some Goods Trucks picking up the frshly made goods
The Glimmering Gorge transfer station, this is where all the diamonds are dropped off before being picked up by trains and taken to the bank you can see one of the newest trains on the line leaving while one of the orginals is still on the platform
Mis Zetoni Airport, deep in the city, with 1000s of passengers

Some more screenshots
The main Oil transfer station often has hundreds of thousands of litres of oil waiting to be pickeds
the smaller transfer station, has not long been built and is currently keeping the dock workers busy

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
I still can't get enough of exploring this map. It is real feast for eyes. I must say it has really great distribution of population - some unpopulated areas, some megapolises...And it is even more gorgeous with OpenGFX!
I found a couple little bugs though:
- There is a broken (unconnected) road in "The Bonaco Wasteland"
- Tubular bridges in 1949 look a bit odd
Also, the park in centres of huge cities are just inviting to be used for airport (see "Rucola Park"). It would be nice if it was possible to make terrain town-owned (this is more of a OTTD suggestion).
Btw, how do you place individual houses in the editor? I can place whole towns only...

CommanderZ thats what I did Mia Zetoni with an airport
and to get the house they placed the town deleted what thye didnt want and clicked expand again and kept doing this till it was how they wanted thats why it took so long

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
Ye that's how I did the entire map so far, somebody made add-on for me where it was possible to place single buildings once but it didn't work well with all the patching so I left that and continued with "expand, destroy, expand, destroy, expand". You get practise in it, but especially that last specific building or squire in your town is a hell of a job sometimes
For those that don't know where to start with this hugh map it might be an idea to start small at one of the smaller islands at the map borders. Oncce you got a relyable network there you can explore the main land. Here's a list of them with population and the locations.
Ronian Archipel 194495 (along the south-eastern border)
*******************************
Ronian republic: 36771
North Ronian (Rutanio): 58691
South Ronia: 99033
Merlin Islands Archipel 87613 (eastern corner)
*******************************
Saint Catwel (Merlin Islands): 17585
Saint Brandon (Merlin Islands): 65426
Saint Harold (Merlin Islands): 4602
Les Diano's Archipel 34502 (northern corner)
*******************************
Isla Dia Nupla (les Diano's): 2327
Isla Dia Taco (les Diano's): 11811
Isla Dia Pueno (les Diano's): 2934
Isla Dia Porto (les Diano's): 17430
Western Archipel 85849 (Western corner)
*******************************
Murica Isle 80458
San Paldo (Impiriata) 5001
Jonkerplaat (Murica Isle) 390
And last but not least: thanx for the replies and shots so far!

Im thinking of restarting this time using some grfs, but you need to get a patch for this so that industrys never close because the size of them map by 1968, most the main industrys (factorys, oil refineries etc) had started closing and a huge number had closed causing problems to the network plan I had made in my head, so you really need to get a patch for that because they start closing far to quick and for a map like this where they are ment to be in certain positions it ruins it

Re: Cindini BETA release and screenshot contest!
Wow Whopper - this is such a beautiful scenario and for such complex and beautiful map a no-industry-close-down-ever newgrf would be just the cherry on top.
I'll get right on it.

NewGRF: Oil Wells in Temperate terrain now can Increase production, Better vehicle names, Use-able default aircraft, Oil Rig for Snowland and Desert, Speed for Suspension bridges.
Patches (OpenTTD): Improved smooth_economy [in trunk], More (diesel) smoke [in trunk], Realistic_acceleration finetune.
Keep 'em rollin'!
