Re: Game: Guess the train
Hi Michael,
you got my questions correct according the answers you gave. This loco was reworked and rebuilt from a Alco engine. Therefore the question related to the original engine and to the rebuilt engine. The rebuilt was not done by ALCO alone and the rebuilt version didn't got a new model #, therefore I asked for the model only one time. Your try is close but not correct. The PR class ARP20 is a rebuilt of the PR class ALP14, but DL-500's are neither class ALP14 nor class ARP20 and this one here has no A1A-A1A wheel arrangement, even if it is not easy to spot in the picture. But is is one of the Alco World series, here you're right.
Country: Pakistan (1 point)
Company: Pakistan Railway (1 point)
Wheel arrangement: ??? (1 point)
Class: ??? (2 points)
Builder: ALCO (2 points) (only 1 point, because not rebuilt by Alco alone)
Year: ??? (2 points)
Model: ??? (1 point) (DL-500 is not exact enough)
Rebuilt of which class: ??? (2 points)
Builder of original class: ALCO (2 points)
Year of building original class: ??? (2 points)
So far, 5 points for Michael.
And enough points left for other guys
regards

This engine of the CP [1] is one of many diesel-hydraulics built by Henschel of Kassel/Germany. It´s one in a batch of five engines (production numbers ..., 31003, 31004) built between 1964 and 1966 for the spanish "Ferrocarril de Compañía Minera de Sierra Menera", a coal mine in the Teruel region.country: France (1 point) [Tony]

The eventful life of Henschel diesels
Following the closure of that line in 1973, all five (nos. 1001-1005) were sold to "Ferrocarriles Españoles de Via Estrecha" (FEVE) in Northern Spain, our engine (prod no 31003) being relabeled to 1404 [2].
1973 - 1992 in FEVE livery
In 1992, FEVE sold this engine to the french "Chemins de fer de Provence" (CP) and, in 1998, engine 1405 to the German "Brohlthal-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft" (BEG) [3], a Museum railway near Andernach. Remaining engines 1401-1403 were sold to Argentinian LBS (Linéa Belgrano Sur) in 2007.
Today in Buenos Aires, in LBS/"UGOFE" livery

Re: Game: Guess the train
Uh yeah. "engine type" != "prime mover".
I forgot to post the Cummins! I was under the impression Tony wanted to know some exotic number like "DHG 1200BB" in my last post, hehe.
Nevermind.

Michael
