Hello all...

I've finally discovered how to convert MSTS models into Locomotion form, and I'm considering releasing a few once the bugs have been worked out... Pictured below are a preliminary five examples of what will be in the set I'm working on...

Image

From top to bottom, the locos are--

-Conrail GE B23-7
-Conrail EMD GP15-1
-Erie Lackawanna EMD SD45-2
-CSX GE BQ23-7
-CSX GE C30-7

The GE's are the most likely to be released at this point (mainly because I've been given prior full permission to release any of their creator's work), but only the SD45-2 is completed, as pictured below... (The cabooses are mine as well, and I'm working to release the DRGW one)...
Image

As I've said in other threads, cabooses are in the plans as well, and I hope to convert a few I can release for the rest of you guys...

I'm still relatively new at the whole conversion thing, but I've had some practice over the last couple of months, so it should be a quality product...

Oh, and one more thing-- file hosting isn't a problem-- I'll just add the Lomo files to the MSTS file library I'm already running on my current website posted in my sig image...

Regards to all,
>>MC

OK, update already, LOL...

It appears the GP15 can't happen... Rereading the readme with the loco it says "redistribution is prohibited", and in the MSTS world, that means don't even consider releasing it as something else...

But here is what I plan to do, with the years available in parenthesis... This post will continue to be edited as new releases are planned for the set...

-GE Conrail B23-7 (1978-end)
-GE CSX U23B (1968-2000)
-GE Southern U23B [hi-hood] (1968-2000)
-GE Norfolk Southern U23B [hi-hood] (1968-2000)
-GE Conrail C30-7A (1978-end)
-GE ATSF U23B (1968-2000)
-GE MILW U23B (1968-2000)
-GE CSX BQ23-7 (1980-2010)
-GE SBD BQ23-7 (1980-2010)
-GE SBD Bicentennial U36B (1971-end)
-GE Erie Lackawanna U36C (1968-2000)
-GE HLGX C30-7 (1978-2035)
-EMD CSX YN3 GP40-2 (1972-end)
-EMD Erie Lackawanna SD45-2 (1972-end)
-EMD Conrail SD45-2 (1972-end)
-GE CSX AC6000CW (1996-end)

A few freight cars and a collection of cabooses will be in here as well... So GE fans, you're in luck!

Hmm; has any-one noticed that we all seem to be working on locos. and not the cargo-side, like flat-beds, and grain hoppers/water..?

I've got cabeese in the works as well, plus hopefully some freight cars, mainly grain hoppers, boxcars, and a piggyback or two... (I haven't mastered how to simulate loads/empties in open cars such as hoppers yet)...

Just getting the power done first... 8) And I'm working really fast, as well... Here's the first two locos, a Conrail B23-7 and a CSX U23B...

Image

Oh, and I've just been given permission to release that SD45-2, so look for it and possibly other ones for Conrail and Clinchfield...

Did you get permission from the creators of the models?

Even the creator of the GP15 might allow it if you explain what it is.

So far with the exception of the AC6000 I've gotten permission to release every loco in the list in the second post... Whether or not the AC60 will be done is a big question mark at this point...

There is a reason for this as doing single loco's are the easiest things to make within VC so its a good place to start your set. Things like MU's are slightly harder and then for the multi-state wagons a good understanding and a lot of practice with VC (and the process of converting) is needed due to the complexity of multi-state wagons.

I'm sure they will happen eventually but most creators need to find that they are comfortable using VC before jumping into something as complex.

Here's a preview of the set I'm working on... Not everything is pictured here, and not everything pictured here may be released; time will tell... Expect a few more freight cars to be included in the set as well...

Oh, BTW-- the hybrid's just a joke...

I like the "Just kidding one"

If you could colour it with all the natinal flags, and release eash one, that would be cool.

I think that was a jab at me since I said I had the hybrid for release.

i don't see the point in this "add-on" anyway, especially since it's ugly low quality. graphic standards've been raised, or hadn't you noticed?

if only this turns out like the NLset issue...

The "point" of this add-on is to put out some loco and car breeds into Locomotion that we don't already have...

Reminds me of the old saying-- "If you don't like it, don't download it"...

:? Ugly low quality? Personally I can't see anything wrong quality wise, although I've never tried to create my own vehicles before, so I wouldn't really know. Anyways . . . it's something that I'd download just because it's something new and I don't have it. :P

Please Lobster, such kind of comments are not upbuilding. You could say so if really they were low quality. What is low quality is the JPG posted not the sprites. I wanted to comment on that. MC6853 and everybody: Don't use low quality/ JPEG format again.

I had a long reply but my dropped net connection ate it so ill keep it short,

I think what lobster ment by low quality is that When you just run a set thought msts2lomo and do no pre or post production work, you get waht we call "LQ" or low quality.

Depending on what porgrams, steps You go through first and After render can result ina "MQ" medium quality set.

You can get a 'HQ" or High Quality set if you spend an hour or two in about 6 programs and run mulitiple renders trough a ton of scripts on some very very very expensive software (you can get a car for less). You end up with a totaly differant look then.

I am sure his "NLset" issue is directed at the fact that the LoMo community has a lost a lot of good moders, infact it has lost "all" of it pioneer moders due to people stepping on their toes, making items from same set again. same regions. telling them there set is better etc.. trying to take "food" food from other moders mouths. Many lomo people have become upset over this, also.. we have also lost MSTS modelers that were giving consent before and now like "wtf you people doing over there? you know i have had 7 people ask for the same model over and over? forget it." so now some trains will never be converted (legaly for release)......

then again he could be saying "we have enough garbage sets don't step on any toes and p*** off" .. lol ( i doubt it)

PS. it is not a "crappy quality jpg", remember, Lomo is a crappy 8bit sprite to begin with... thats one reason converting it is a pain in theass... what uses 8 bit these days?

without trying to look like i am picking on or defending anyone, here is just an example. of what he means by HQ VS. LQ. maybe that might make it a little clearer?

Attachments:
File comment: Picked this model only because i had one laying around already converted. Blue in HQ gray in default.
