Town build no roads (alternative)
Hi, I looking some posts about the 'townbuildnoroads' for OpenTTD and that can't be applied because cities no expands...
Well, i thinked 2 possible alternatives to this problem:
1st: At some people (ex, I) would control cities and make a "mayor" owned city. Towns can't modify roads that owns me (now can make it).
2nd: townbuildnoroads to be a unique city cheat. In a new "city cheats" and add cheats that only affect at their respective city that you applied the cheat not all cities.
What you think about this idea?

You can't own towns/industries etc. because that's beyond the basics of the game. This has been discussed in several "economy models" topics. A cheat can work, but how does this will effect the game. If there would be a cheat, how would you select which city is and which city is not building roads?
Like wolf01 suggested that's an option. Also you could lay track around a city, build on every tile a signal and the city is blocked.
Besides that, cities don't grow if they aren't serviced by a company. They wait with growing till the first transport has arrived.

Keep life simple...
in that case, the town have one problem If you for example buy all circular terrain around Barcelona, Barcelona can't expand because the terrains pertains you
This is a method to maintain controlled the cities... I'm on year 1932 and I have cities of 30.000 habitants... -_-
And I and a lot of people would to take their 'own city' builded with their roads and their things... for example, I remodelling all my main city (see screenshot). But the stupid town build roads across my roads on a unnecesary way...
I think that can be a good alternative at the impossible "townbuildnoroads".

Oké I understand now. Ideed you're right that you want to control your city growth. There are however some options:
Make in a scenario a city with 2x2 tiles that prevents the city of building it's own roads. Build stations or railroads with signals per tile to block town growth on places you don't like. Give a controlled piece of land where the town can build as it wants (see screenshot). That makes a controlled growth possible, maybe not all you want but as I said before, you don't own towns/industries because it's a transport game. What you want is more and beyond the basics of the game.

oh no, I don't like those systems, I would make something more "natural" or realist. And I think that prevent towns to build on your own roads, can make more realism and give an option to make a "controlled" growing city.
