Interesting. They appear to be Locomotion sprites coded for TTD. But why? (Also, the author has used at least one of my sound effects from av8  ).

If you're interested in an actual complete TTDP/OpenTTD aircraft set with landing and takeoff animations, try av8. The thread link is in my signature. :)

Indeed, Pikkabird's Aviators plane set has a lot of extra graphics for take-off and landing, and that fits in much better with the TTD world, colour- and scale-wise.

This one looks terrible, I'm afraid.

I agree, terrible and much "bling bling". The scale of the plane is also not correct (the plane is to big). :(
Keep life simple...

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw those screenshots was "photoshop", and not a good job either. The plane is too big, it's listed as a propeller plane even though it got jet engines (could be a wrong flag used in a grf though).

Bjarni, the flag is "small" and "large", not "propeller" and "jet"... And of course it refers the size of airport that the plane can land at, not the size of the plane.

Well, they are used more or less in the same way. The large planes needs the long runways and they tend to be jet planes

There are many small jet aircraft, especially later in the game.

Imo the captions on the purchase window buttons should be "Small" and "Large" rather than "Propellers" and "Jets".

They tend to be, but many aren't.

That particular property has, to my knowledge, never been documented as as "Propeller vs Jet", but always "Large vs Small".

The patch wiki's history only goes back to 11/Nov/2004[0], but the documentation for that property then was exactly the same as it is today: "Is large? 0=no, 1=yes (i.e. can't safely land on small airports)".

[0] Today's bit of useless trivia: I released the first version of NFORenum earlier that same day.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
Projects: NFORenum (download) | PlaneSet (Website) | grfcodec (download) | grfdebug.log parser

I'm a little confused, is this thread about animations shown (with a huge airplane) by the topicstarter or what?

Heh this would be cool if OpenTTD itself would be in 32BPP already. :) And the sizes of everything matches. :)
