Sprite request: "sell all vehiches in depot" butto

Post by Bjarni »

I added a "sell all vehicles in depot" button, but I miss a sprite for it. Hopefully somebody can draw a sprite for this one.

There have been talk about two trashcans or several sticks of dynamite, but no good sprites so far. This is your chance to make something that can be added to the game.

We can handle both one sprite for each vehicle type and one general for all vehicles types. It's up to you to figure out what looks best.

The button is already in the trunk (not in the nightly build yet at the time of writing, but it will be tomorrow), so you can try it and see if it can help you to get ideas. Basically it sells all the vehicles in the depot that you are able to sell (stopped and so on). The button in the trunk looks like the one in the screenshot (lacks an image).

I made one in less of 5 minutes and with MSPaint. Me presents... the nuke button....

EDIT: Well, this isn't TTD compatible but is an idea of what I want. Maybe later I do another for TTD.

Nobody said that I would even consider adding that sprite and as UnderBuilder himself, it's not even compatible with the game. We will use another one

So what does an icon need to be compatible? What resolution?

Well I created another TTD compatible (if that means that it must be created with the TTD palete). If you give resolution necesary I will remake it ;).

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the image area is 21x21 (might be 20x20). The button is 22x22, but that includes the border (the one, that makes it look like the button goes down when clicked)
Also the palette from TTD WIN needs to be used, so yes, you can only use 8 bit graphics

Just a fast job for the requested icon

Edit:
Sorry, I read send not sell, so I'll have to do another one.

Edit2:
Now mistake corrected

Too bad. That icon is actually pretty good for send to depot. I wonder if we could use it anyway. The mass send to depot buttons are written in text and it would not fit there... hmmm

Actually that gives me an idea. If we reduce the size of the goto depot button in the vehicle lists, then we will have a whole lot more space. We can then add more buttons so we can add the "cancel goto depot" button some people (I'm specially thinking about one person here, who will remain nameless :P ) requested because they clicked goto depot by mistake. We can also make a leave depot button. This would certainly minimize micro management.

Maybe I should just go ahead and write the code and the window so we will know the functionality and button sizes before drawing anything though... Let's see what happens

Maybe a cool image :P

If I see that image without a description on what it is, then it could be a lot of stuff. It would be nice if we actually got something in the sprite that people can see what is, like the depot+money thing. That one actually looks nice. Not at all what I expected, but it's a nice one anyway :)

Mine is basically a rip of Born Acorn's idea but with more trains sorry :P
Of course it needs a different one for other vehicles but I can't be bothered to make them if the idea is rubbish

No problem, the reason I posted them here was to inspire others into a vehicle-like design. :p

I like your button. It actually states what it does easily. However, you may need three more (for each vehicle type)

I like the one Bot_40 made. Now we just need one for each vehicletype.

And who said that bots are dumb and useless :P

May I suggest changing the current dustbin to Bot_40's icon, but with only one vehicle instead of three?
Also, one train engine plus two wagons may be good to change the dynamite.

At least we'll have both nice and consistent icons everyone may understand (it's difficult for a newcomer to determine a difference between a dustbin icon and a dynamite icon)

The dustbin should be kept, but the Dynamite should be booted.

Who said you should decide?

It would actually be interesting to see what a window like MeusH just descripted would look like.

Nobody said so, but I remember a lot of people disliking the Dynamite, while (until now) hearing none about the trashcan.
