Map of Germany

Post by Peeves »

Here's my first attempt to build a larger map of Germany.

Recently I've added two screenshots showing the Ruhrgebiet.

Any idea why it only works with the nightly, and not with 0.4.7?

But great job :)
Maybe you want to include some signs of "famous" places,
like the Africa Map?

It's created with r4288
Don't know why it doesn't work with older versions. Personally I prefer playing with a version including Elrails, because in Germany many trackways aren't electrified.

Signing "famous" places establishes a problem. The number of custom names is limited to about 500. If you want to rename your vehicles or stations, that is a very low limit, especially in large maps.

I hope this will be changed in the future, but there are even more important features to come :)

Hmm... it looks quite decent, but would be more challenging if the hills were higher (germany got quite decent mountains, doesn't it?). And the rivers are probably too thin to let ships pass.

Interesting openTTD allows 64000 signs,
but only 512 different "names".

But as you say, there are definitely more important things to do.
