As far as my tests showed it seems to not depend on a certain grf,
my way to reproduce the crash was to have A LOT different grfs active and disableing erailsw.grf. I guess I will end up packing all grfs together I have and send them to Josef but that doesn't mean it will trigger this bug on his pc.

Well it doesn't mean you shouldn't post your cfgs, the best way would be a newgrfw.cfg and a ttdpatch.cfg with as less as possible grfs and configuration switches.

Ohh, and it aswell matters if you have a grf inactive or not in the newgrf file, atleast here. (The bug is not dos specific)

The problem is that the grf which causes this seems to be different on every computer. I have tried many different cfgs that people have sent me, none of them caused the bug for me and no amount of my own experimentation did either.

So I'm at a loss. It evidently overwrites the width of the "space" character, so that the text becomes too wide and breaks at every space.

As for why it's different on every computer, I have no idea...

I wish I knew... I'll keep trying various configs and maybe one of them will do the trick for me...

If it's different for everyone, wouldn't that mean it would be more efficient to have a certain random sample of people who don't have the problem with their configs to send patchman theirs? Testing otherwise working ones may be the easiest way to find one, from what I read.

There's a good chance that we've identified the bug now, thanks to a lot of help by Oskar who has been able to reproduce it.

Here's a test version that hopefully fixes it. Please report any successes or failures after trying it.
