erm, how do i use locotool? i want to change the date and speed of the larger livestock carrage becuase atm its better to just stay with the small 8 capacity carrage becuase there half the size of the large 1 and in the space of a large 1 you can have 2 of the smaller ones but with 16 capacity but same speed.

that might be hard to read becuase i couldn't think of the right words so basically i'm asking.. How do i change the speeds or something if possible please post step by step pictures :\

install locotool (folder inside \locomotion works well

BACK UP ALL .DAT FILES (learnt this the hard way)

look in the objdata folder, find the thing you want to change
copy it to locotool folder
drag and drop it on locotool.exe
it makes a folder with images and a (filename).xml

open the /xml file with notepad

look for this line
<variable name="speed" size="2">76</variable>
change the 76 to whatever speed you want (in miles per hour)
save file
drag and drop (filename).xml onto locotool

copy .DAT file to objdata folder

Can the loco tool be used to change, or remove, the sounds? Like the diesel horns that drive me crazy when there are a lot of roads crossing the tracks.

You can remove the sound with editing the .xml wich can be found by using locotool to decompile it.

There are many free graphics programs, such as Paint .net and gimp.There are many non-free ones such as Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. Unless you're rich, i'd suggest the first group.
