Actually the rating on stations DO decrease because of train age, just like TT if you want to keep a high station rating you don't have to change the engine but the wagons, old wagons decrease a station rating, after 10/11 years my stations were capped at 83% maximum rating even though I transported all coal possible from the mines (always 0 coal left at station), that led to a decrease to only 66% of coal transported from the mine (also a noticeable drop in my income and a queue of trains started to form before my loading stations), after changing the wagons the rating went back to 99%.
So if you want to keep nice station ratings you'll have to change vehicles (and for trains that means engines and wagons) every 10-15 years, that's much better than the previous 5 years with the original vehicles but in no way less BORING and kinda annoying as with the original TT there's no way to tell a wagon age unless you select every train manually and check it, the only solution then is to change the whole train whenever you're changing the engine that way you know wagons are as old as the engines...
Wow. Thats good to know. I'll have to try that out cause I was wondering why I was capped at 83% too. Maybe I can finnally compete with those computer players after all.
Hmm.. if you look at the screenshot below you will se that most of my engines are 15 years old, the wagons are 25 years old and yes the ratings are capped at 84%, but I do get 100% transported.
Uuuuugh. Why does he(Chris S.) feel the need to make vehicle replacement so tedious? I have 56 trains running on sets of parallel tracks , 50+ planes, 30+ busses.
I gave up on busses simply because of the tedious nature of replacing them. You cant just drop them off anywhere. First have to find em. Zoom in on that city. Replace and drop then search for the next one on the list.
Planes you have to wait till they land and DONT replace them if they are "Broken down". The new plane will have that as a permanent status message. Placing planes is the easiest just because placement on any airport will allow it to move back to its default route.
Trains arnt hard because I dont have any trains running off my main network but it is long and boring replacing every car for 56 trains. Lets see 1 loco and ~6 cars per train. 392 items to replace every 5-15 years from trains alone. If it wasnt for this ide probably have a train network twice this size by now. Its like painting the goldengate bridge in that when you finally get done you have to start over at the begining.
Is there any way to remove the cap on the amount delivered?
Good point Zebez, I don't know what happened to my stations then... Guess it's because I didn't have the industries 100% in my "blue" area of stations or cause I had only 1 station for each industry ? That's the only thing I can think of... 1 station at 84% and the industry send you 84% of it's production, 2 stations at 84 and you get 50% in one 50% on the other thus 100% ? And I was getting around 66% cause my blue area wasn't fully on the industry... Gonna try this hope it works =)
And then as your SS shows if you play without competition there's no need to renew wagons, as long as you leave 2 stations getting cargo.
BTW, if you make your stations 10 squares long, you can fit a engine the size of that Ae4/7 plus 12 wagons with the size of that tanker wagons and it will be exactly the perfect size for the station, not a pixel off =) Dunno about future trains, didn't reach to them yet.
A station's catchment area does not need to cover an entire industry to work 100%. It merely needs to be close enough to accept the cargo and it will work the exact same as it would if you covered the entire industry with the blue catchment area. Not sure who thought it needed to cover more.
Interesting to note the addition of the TT idea of ratings.... I can understand it maybe for passengers not wanting to get on a crusty old train, but you don't hear and envelope complain or a piece of grain make a fuss about the transporting conditions. Hell the livestockj are the ones that mess it up
I know I personally groaned everytime a cruddy old train pulled into the station when I was commuting everyday. Similarly I was glad when I got a 'middle' train with heating and air con, happy when I got a refitted 'medium' train and excited when I got a brand-spanking new train. Of course, small things.......
As for other rolling stock, it ages, metal corrodes, wood warps, brakes wear out, bogies fall off....... vandals get into the rail yards at night and spraypaint everything....

Just downlood wrapper tool 0.15.
Execute the file
Click the properties you want(more or max reliability and\or no obsolete.
Drag the vehicles from the folder OBJDATA in the rectangle.
This will take some minutes.
Two subfolders will be made one named normal, the other what you wished(f.i. no breakdown).
Then you have to copy the vehicles from the no breakdown folder to the Objdata folder.
In the Objdata folder are only DAT files. You can select them all, even not vehickles(the program will ignore them) and drag them.
If you wish to undo no-breakdown you can copy back files from normal to Objdata
You can find wrappertool here: http://www.locomotion-fanpage.net/forum ... 126&lim=20

It's still available at locomotion fanpagenet:
There is also the savegame editor, also known as locomod.
With that you can ad mods in an existing game(Not remove). http://www.locomotion-fanpage.net/forum ... cat=8&sid=

I noticed the SD70MAC isn't in the improvedrel.rar, I need this one badly
But thanks to the link of chevy, I registered at locomotion fanpage, downloaded the wrapper tool, installed it, dragged the sd70mac in the window, generated a new one, it's so easy
Now I can replace 210 trains, yippie
The succes of Wrappertool is that it works on all vehicles old and new.
Also its subfolder with the originals makes it easy to change things back to normal.

I just tried and it works.
First register at Locomotion-fanpage.
Then after loging-in download the file.
If you try downloading it without to login you get a corrupted file.
