My first go at the scenario.
I focused on construction this time and not on trying to complete the scenario. So I think I only have completed 10% or so of the goal. But I think a couple of the stations turned out pretty cool.

Here's a screenshot zoomed out a bit:

Closeup of the center 60 platform station.

I think I saw a post of someone who made a 67 tiles long station. That may be the limit or at least extremely close. My platform is 60 tiles wide. It wasn't very hard, but took sooo long to build so I'm not going to try to beat 67.

There are three lines coming from the left and a train on any of those can go to any of the four stations. This network took even longer time than the 60 tiles wide platform. It doesn't look like much now (spent a lot of time optimising it) but I wanted it to be so that trains from any line could go to any station, the trains had as few slopes as possible, no joining intersections before they arrive at the stations, and no waypoints because that will save me time when I replace the trains. Yes, I probably saved one or two minutes by not needing waypoints, but it took me way longer to construct this :?

Oh btw, nobody has commented on the scenario design. What do you think of the look of the scenario?

Beautifull!! :D
That looks realy fantastic Punar. I wondered where you was last weeks, but now i see.Playinggggg.
The layout is perfect, and i think you made a new record building so wide.
The longest station i now off was 50 tiles long.
Its a good idee not let the trains joining after loading.
About the scenario.
The scenery and industries are well choosen.
But like i said, the country choice is less.
It takes much to long before you get any interesting loko's.
Also for a very long time you have to do with the small 10 tons tankers.
Well this makes it difficult at the start and pushes you to start a steel economy. So that's nice.
Maybe it could be placed as an english scenario from 1950?
Then you can choose electric or not, And more variations in wagons and lok's.
Keep on building :D

I have i new record.
20 years and 5 months :D
But i cheated.
I used the Railcar set of Loewe13.
A very promissing project. No lok's, only motorised wagons with speeds up to 321 km\h and a pay load of 75 tons.
I uses its own tracks, signals, bridges and platforms.
I made a big station, 20 platforms wide and 4 long.
This platforms can serve 8 wagon long trains.
I needed only the chemindusties to feed the factory.
As you see the factory received about 1600 tons a month.
But delivered its max of 9705 with 78%,because there was only one station.
So delivered goods was a average of 6200 tons a month.
This is the reason that the scenario can't be played faster then this.
But i enjoyed the railcar set,It has much new posibilities. :D

I assume those automatic driving wagons come in 2010. 20 years is still a great time chevy. How many of those locomotiveless strains do you have?

Looks like you did a simple setup for the main station which saves construction time. You're not even using all the platforms. I often spend much time planning high capasity stations even though at the back of my mind I know that simple stations usually are the most efficient anyway.

Re: Punar,
As you see it would be overkill to setup a steel economy, course one factory can't deliver more goods. So after 5 years of building,(the time it took to let the city accept goods),i used accelarate time.
About 50 Railcars, each 8 units long are enough to do this job.
I little secret here: Loewe13 hasn't finetuned the Railcars yet.
So you can start already in 1900,also the cost factor needs some tuning.
Be sure that you thick> everything you need for the Railcars in the scenario: tracks, bridges, signals, platforms and not to forget the railcars it self.

Next patch info

Post by d00mh4mm3r »

Here is something in witch in hoping to be in the new patch for locomotion, UNLIMITED STATION SIZE, as i have 16*5 tops... shore its good and all, but i needed more platforms and i wanted it to look neat, not like all you others 3*16.... u may have 16 platforms but trains stay for a little r&r longer..

P.S... damn, with the track config you guys are showing, you have A LOT of time on your hands bad... either get a girlfriend, or even a friend from school and go out more dudes

But it is still great!
But I am cheating a little bit :P

I placed some new trains in it. Thats all though.
But i still dont now how i can get like 1500 ton a/month of coal in one coal-industrie.

Re:Donkervuur,
Place 2 stations at the industry and never let it stay "untrained"for more then a few seconds.
It will give 3069 ton with in years.

My second go at the scenario. I have only completed 21% of the objective but I have more than 250 trains and no reliability patch installed. I have another interesting station concept I want to try out rather than having to replace all those trains so I just quit the map now.

I wanted to make an effective station as big as possible without building higher than one platform level above ground. I also didn't want to build underground (except for the stations in the cities where goods is delivered).
This station is made of two 18 platforms wide rows on the ground and two 16 platforms wide rows above for a total of 68 platforms.

There are 8 main lines, 2 towards the steel mills, 2 towards the chemical plants and 4 towards the cities (whereof one isn't used because the city doesn't accept goods yet).

Here are some screens:
http://www.punar.net/games/loco/8way1.PNG (Closeup, partly see-through)
http://www.punar.net/games/loco/8way2.PNG (Same as above but not see-through)
http://www.punar.net/games/loco/8way3.PNG (From high above)

And a save game (794 KB):
