Some news:
I think I will write an automatic xml system for grf repositories.
The question is with ttdgraphics , if Dinges will provide the necessary info...

Hmm, will GRFIDs be included in these XML systems? If so, I can make use of them from the Repository. If not, I can't, and won't. In some ways, I might prefer my own system anyway, at least initially, as I know exactly how it works and the data is, for the most common sets at least, definitely correct and available (locally rather than on a remote server). Just a thought, anyway. ;)

The xml is for updateing grfcrawler automatic,
a site will provide an xml with the necessary informations, this can be read by grfcrawler.

I don't know exactly what you want, but it would be also possible to have a xml query interface for grfids/authors on the "other" side...

Besides doing a search for filename Here... If you wanna keep hes info, you'll most likely need acess to hes MySQL DB

Sorry, no I don't need access to the database, in general a better html code, would already be enough. (the current output isn't very nice, and if Dinges will change it in someway, my parser gets useless)

The best would be an xml output includeing the descriptions aswell,
If I have time I will write a parser for the current layout...

PS: I fixed the upload bug in grfcrawler for large image...

Hi Eis_Os

I just had a thought:

New Railway Fence
Some time ago I drew a new railroad fence. Szappy has coded it (Thanks!!!).

Now that's a description... So how about adding the author's name into the General description?

I don't see any improvement, it won't be searchable when the advance search options start ... aka you say you search a Author...

Or do you maybe mean the search/result lists?

The description should be longer, it should include instructions about graphics orders in newgrf.cfg

What I meant was that in the list of all GRF's, it should also show the authors name:

Becuase description "I did..." doesn't seem too good to me, when you don't know who the "I" is, unless you ask for more details...

and if the "author", or "By" was inserted as small gif, it woun't be searchable , while the author's name (in our case "Purno") would...

Hmm, if/when you do this, I think I will use it for the Repository, perhaps in conjunction with my own back-up system, we'll see. Let me know about the interface details once you get it sorted. :)

The question is what do you need. You need GRFID to filename + descripton? Right?

Then the question is what standard to use, soap? Maybe something easier would already be enough...

Well, what we discussed in IRC sounds good to me:

[11:04:45] <eis_os> something like an xml query: grfcrawler.tt-forums.net/XMLSearch.php?searchin=grfid&search=00000000&return=filename,description ....

I'll call it when a specific GRFID is mentioned in a save file, and will likely cache it locally in mysql and recheck it every 24 hours or so.

Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks

Fixing silly typo so homepage link of a grf works in list mode aswell

Would it be worth to add a grf repository, aka uploading a windows / dos grf system?
But this would require a user management system...

I say yes. You are more active and experienced than managers of other such projects, and it would be able to be bigger and better than them too.
