ttdx_artist: Nice work. I like them.
Hmmm. I've been sitting at school during sport time watching the train line next to the school for an idea of how some of the diesel trains look. I've got plenty of pics already but I found a few ones I haven't seen before. I'm doing a bit more research.

has anyone here ever seen the Manildra Group Wheat Hoppers? They're huge! They have a 73.5t load, work that out to axel weight... 18.375t per axel, thats a big hopper! I took some pics at Bombadery/Nowra NSW at the Starch Factory, i could make one for the game, but it means that we would have to make it seperate to te other hoppers because of the size.

And on the subject... does anyone have pics that we could use of W44 Concentrate Train? I have models of the G, GP and high sided GP wagons but i don't know if i have the time while helping with the japset.

Here is the MGFH Wheat Hopper....

WAIT!!!! IF YOU COPIED THE FIRST ONE!!! THE BODY IS TOO SHORT!!! take the second one... i tried it in the game an it looks like the loco, expants and contracts when cornering, so i've fixed it... TAKE THIS ONE!!!

Nice. It's great to see this set coming along.

Personally, I prefer to see the older steam equipment, I think there's more variety there. But the modern Aussie stuff is interesting too because it is painted in such unusual colors.

I suppose your set will be available in the Temperate and Tropic environments, but not the Arctic?

In webmaster parlance, "banner" is a specific size - 468x60

Some of those graphics look nice though - should be great to see them in-game. :)

What type of landscape are you gonna draw, I reckon an outback style landscape would be good with red dirt and very sparse vegetation. That would be sweet!

What about the WA/Interstate Rail. Would that go through a bit of desert?

The Ghan & the Indian Pacific both go through the desert, I think an outback landscape would be awesome. And besides it is the most contrasting Australian landscape compared to the rest of the world, as well as the fact that the east coast landscape wouldn't look that much different to the current TTD temperate climate (apart from the trees and the colour of the grass).

Either way theres no reason why we cant do both, I just think that the outback would be the most interesting :)

Outback would be best since it is something which is just really very.....aussie. These trains are all looking brilliant, but it might be a good idea to work out what trains we are actually going to put into the set before doing to many more trains

We got to make sure we have good representation from all states when it comes to passenger transport. We also really need to get down the older steamers that we are gonna do at some point. After I've done my HSC(which I've only got 4 more tests to go) I plan on learning how to do nfo coding so I probably be able to help on the coding side of things.

Also, that banner is really nice, but Owen or a moderator might think it a little big for a signature. Maybe if you could downsize it a litte, that would be cool. This is already looking good and I'm just happy that an Australian set is going to be done.

Somebody else has a sig that is very much like that, and it's no problem. I'd say you can leave it along unless a mod PMs you with a request that you change it.

Attempting to do a complete climate conversion is a LOT OF WORK. Nobody has ever successfully done it. The Japan project originally started out that way; now it's mostly just a trainset. It may grow back into a complete replacement over time, but I'm not holding my breath.

I strongly recommend that you do just the trains first, and pick the most appropriate climates to run them in as they are, which would mean, NOT the Arctic. Then, once the trains are released, and if you have the available resources and support, you start working on buildings, landscape, etc.

It's AEs. But thats not the point. The point is you are right. So don't worry about for now ttdx_artist

This is probably a good idea. Put all the work into getting the trains done so we can have people playing with great Australian trains. Then after, if we feel like it, we can continue by doing buildings and maybe a total conversion of a climate.

i am going to write up a list tonight of the trains that would suit the set, i will post it hopefully tonight... and you all must remember that very little trains travel trough outback scenery in aus. from knowledge all that goes through the outback is hamersly iron ore trains, the ghan, the indian pacific (which is now the east west ghan), 2 container trains to darwin, that's about it... the only other thing that comes close would be mildura in Victoria where there is some wheat traffic... it isn't enough for an outback scenario, but if someone else want's to attempt it, be my guest.

Ok ppl, go here.... http://www.pip.com.au/~march/ that'll give you all a good idea of tipical australian railway scenery.

Still, unless you only want the banner to show up in your sig and nowhere else, ever, shrink it down to stanrd banner size - 468x60.
