Dear TT-Forum Family;

I'm redesigning my latest scenario *Mammoth Cities* to include
dual or double Subway Stations. In the screenshot you'll see Sub A VII
and Sub A VIII in front only separated by [1] tile w/signal. This is a single
"loop". Three of this kind has been designed (A B C) to accommodate the
mail and passengers in the huge city of Seattle [300,000 pop.] Notice that
both subways are unloading and loading at the same time. I will let you
know when I'm finished. (It's tough to design!) And also not lose the
population total. It took all day Saturday to get my pop. to 300,000, after
losing 35,000 to make room for the Subway system. UGH!

Always,
Jim Powers

Dear TT-Forum Family;

If you want to see how the Subway trains work, I have an example
from my *Mammoth Cities* scenario in a saved game. It is
" JP Transport" See Attached saved game. Remember, this is
only a sample.

Please Let me know if you like this style of subways.......

Always,
Jim Powers

Nice work as always jim.
Quick Q, what grf set are you using?
It looks like DBset, but when I enable the dbset, unfortunately your trains go Uber Slow :(

Dear Mr. Maverick;

When I downloaded a saved game from Owen's Repository
the other day, I had the same reaction on trains slowing way
down after running regular for a few minutes. We used to never
had those problems until the latest patch was installed. I believe
it's a "bug". I checked and I have dbset grf. Though I had no problem
while testing the subway system. Remember I'm only a "regular user",
so, I don't know the solution. Did you look at San Francisco? Big city huh?

Always,
Jim Powers

Mr. Gonewhacko;

The reason for being here is, Mr. Oskar 's GUI station design layout
is a rare opportunity to expand at scenarios. He inspired me to use
more space effeciently, however, it worked out with the subways to
put a [5] tile station space and [1] tile for signals then another [5]
tile station space so that with only [1] "loop" line you can run [2]
subways simutanously on the [1] line. Thus preserving tiles for buildings.
Do you understand, now, the reason?

Say, what is BBCode?

Always,
Jim Powers

That's Gonewacko, but anyway... :roll: '

BBCode is tt-forums' inside code, that you can use in your posts; Taken from TTDforums FAQ:

How to create bold, italic and underlined text
BBCode includes tags to allow you to quickly change the basic style of your text. This is achieved in the following ways:
To make a piece of text bold enclose it in [b][/b], eg.

[b]Hello[/b]

will become Hello
For underlining use [u][/u], for example:

[u]Good Morning[/u]

becomes Good Morning
To italicise text use [i][/i], eg.

This is [i]Great![/i]

would give This is Great![/i]

Ehh??

I simply commented on the fact that this thread was once part of Oskars GUI Experiment topic, while the words GUI and Experiment are not in his post...

Anyhow... This is OT :.

Dear TT-Forum;

Below is my latest [unfinished] scenario with a population of over one million,
that's (1,000,000) in only (4) cities total! Thought you'd like to see it.

By the way, I've installed a dual station subway system in 3 of the 4 cities.
I'm working on San Francisco's subway now. (For those who are interested.)

Always,
Jim Powers

you could get more space for town building by removing unnecessary roads :wink:

Mr. Shadow-XIII;

I know what you mean, but, I've found that somehow it takes this type
of grid system to get the *energy* (for want of a better word) to the
edge of the city. Now, when I remove roads, after expanding, I have
problems with the AI. Therefore, after trying many combinations, this has given me the best results. I used to put in the grid and then from the outer edges of the city start removing road as much as possible. Believe it or not
it didn't help that much. Why don't you try and see if you can develope a extra large city, and then we'll compare notes, my Friend. You know I can't
possible be the only one out of all the TTD Family to try to build extreme cities, am I? :? It's just not that tough. So, you wear a mouse or two out, big deal. I'd be more than happy to help with the experience I've got. If anyone is serious about city building, please contact me.

Always,

Jim Powers

That is one half million people in only [1] TTD city!

I don't really see what the fun is in that though...but congratz :)

You're not transporting any people just pushing 'expand town' the whole time. Not my idea of a good TTDLX game, but oh well :roll:

Mr. Darkvater;

"Variety is the spice of life". I believe you've missed the point, Sir. I like to create and then also play the games. But, if you think that all you do is push the "Expand" button and presto you have a large city, you're in for a little suprise. I challenge you, Sir, to see how big you can make a city, then, write me what you think and how large your city is. OK?

He's sooo right.

I tried to follow your advice Mr. Powers and got fed up before even getting anywhere close to your figure - I may have another go at the weekend and try to catch up to you.
