Re: Japan Set Development
Well, technically it's a bug when using that NewGRF. It should re-define all bridge sprites instead of assuming one specific (version of a) base set. It also breaks with any bridge replacement set. Alternatively use a bridge replacement set in your grf selection *after* this one.Metrication wrote:Do I need the original graphics to remedy it?Eddi wrote:that is a known problem if you use OpenGFX.

Re: Japan Set Development
well Technically (tm) it's a shortcoming of the GRF spec that you cannot replace the surface of the road without including the back side of the bridge in your GRF. this GRF contains the back side of the original graphics, but not the front side, in the assumption that they won't be modified. but OpenGFX contains different front sides, so the graphics glitch in this way.

Re: Japan Set Development
Fixed in version 3.5 which I'm uploading as we speak.Mizari wrote:There's a slight alignment issue with the buffer ends, as seen in the screenshot.
Added in v3.5.Mizari wrote:It would be nice if there was a underpass for single-side as well.
Will work on this soon.Mizari wrote:It would look good also, if there were separate platform faces for the sides (as seen in the second screen), with some kind of fencing or so, so that the platforms are not open towards the non-railway side (maybe some more under a different category to decrease the clutter).
Mizari, the Hankyu set is now buried in the "Addon Set". (They run on the standard-guage track!)Mizari wrote:...(By the way, could the Hankyu set be made compatible somehow?)...
Please download that and slap it in your GRF list... sorry for not telling you this sooner!

Metrication, I've raised a bug and will look at this when I get a chance.Metrication wrote:A bug to report (which I think is related to the previous discussion about bridges). Bridges in my games have two different sides, see attached screenshot.

Re: Japan Set Development
If this is the case, I would be replacing all the bridge sprites with OpenGFX ones, as I'm pretty sure distributing parts of the original baseset graphics is illegal.Eddi wrote: this GRF contains the back side of the original graphics, ...
Re: Japan Set Development
yes-ish. but when only using small parts of graphics that don't stand by themselves, copyright gets a bit fuzzy.
anyway, the OpenGFX bridges mostly come from TBRS.

I don't even recall seeing this add-on set! Where do I get it? It's not on dev-zone, nightly bundles or bananas.stevenh wrote: Mizari, the Hankyu set is now buried in the "Addon Set". (They run on the standard-guage track!)

*ahem*, My bad... It seems I've just built it and must have been testing it locally, a long time ago.Mizari wrote:...I don't even recall seeing this add-on set! Where do I get it? It's not on dev-zone, nightly bundles or bananas...
I actually hadn't realised that it wasn't on Bananas.
Quality control aside, I can post a build of it some time this week.
My apologies for getting the facts entirely wrong.

I shall look forward to that.

Before it was included in the add-on package though...

Re: Japan Set Development
The Hankyu Set is still downloadable from Bananas, I assume from above that it just doesn't work with the new GRFs.IrmoTrainfan wrote:Before it was included in the add-on package though...
Hence dandan had already merged it into a new Japanese Trains Addon GRF.
This has, not that I realise it, not been released. It's next on my list.
Re: Japan Set Development
Hello,
first of all I would like to thank you for development japan themed grfs.
When I am playing japan themed game I always use full set of grfs (trains, landscape, stations, tracks etc.) but few weeks ago I found out that japanese tracks are very easy and practical to use even with non-japanese train grf sets (I like "german" setting as very similar to my country) so japanese tracks have become my No. 1 track grf and I currently use it permanently in all my games.
I would like to ask if it is possible to implement into jptracks.grf one interesting (at least for me
) feature:
When I am playing russian themed game (and using xussr.grf from devzone http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/xussrset/) there is provided own track graphics with different colours for rail types on the minimap (light grey/white for non-electrified, red for DC electrified and blue for AC electrified). Is there a possibility to implement this feature to the japanese tracks, please? (at least 2 different colours to easy distinguish non-electrified and electrified on the map).
Thank you!

WLK, I do actually like this idea... I've raised a ticket so I don't forget to implement it:WLK wrote:Is there a possibility to implement this feature to the japanese tracks, please? (at least 2 different colours to easy distinguish non-electrified and electrified on the map).

How is the add-on coming along? Does this also include the former Odakyu things that used to be in the old Japan set?

I've just enabled nightlies for the addon set. I'm not game enough to just release it to bananas.
I hope that the GRF will appear soon... otherwise check out the attached here.

Re: Japan Set Development
Ah, thank you, I have been playing therewith now.
I notice that the station buildings (structures) aside from the Tokyo Station frontage, are all unavailable at least until 1932 (current game time). Is that intended?

Not at all... the wooden ones should indeed be available from day zero.Mizari wrote:I notice that the station buildings (structures) aside from the Tokyo Station frontage, are all unavailable at least until 1932 (current game time). Is that intended?
I'll raise a ticket.
