Also another question. How did you get the group number text to show green in the name box?

Here is your answer: http://newgrf-specs.tt-wiki.net/wiki/NML:Language_files

You can also take a look at the source code of TIAS of how I did it.

Basically it's like this:
Code:
STR_VOGEL: Ja hallo, ik ben een {RED}vogel{BLACK}.

It will show like this in game:
"Ja hallo, ik ben een vogel."

I don't know how you can do that in OpenTTD itself. I deem it not possible.

well, it is possible, if you figure out how to input the special colour characters :)
(might be possible to add buttons to the OSK)

Not quite sure how exactly i'd go about that. I guess i can live with black text for now. I can live with putting random information in square brackets. Thanks anyway though.

I've just noticed this and have gotten quite excited now! Unfortunately I'm back at university where I ban myself from TTD. This summer I'll have a good play with this in combination with the Japan Set and hopefully relive my Japan days!
楽しみにしています!ありがとうございました〜!

Hi,
I've got a few of what I think may be issues with the TIAS.

Keikyu 800/1000 1st Type 2 Car unit reports that it has 4 cars in the "Number of cars" field in the Description.

Keikyu 2100 Type description has an extra } at the end of its description on a new line.

Only AE1s bought at the very end of their availability will last until the AE100 becomes available in 1991.

Compared to the rest of the trains in the Japan Set, the reliability on the TIAS trains seems to deteriorate really quickly, an eight year old 2 Car 800/1000's reliability seems to deteriorate eight times faster than a 13 year old 80 Series EMU's does.
The reliability of the 80 Series hits 75% (Down from 84%) the same time the 800/1000 hits 0% (from 92%). This doesn't just affect the 800/1000s, but basically every train in the TIAS.

Also, I don't know if this was intended, but TIAS trains don't appear in the menu in Snowy maps.

Hope this helps! (Even though most of these are small)

Hi jdemn8,

Thank you so much for pointing these issues out!

Fixed for the next release.

It seems that sometimes trains with a very short model life don't appear in the set at all. This is a bit problematic IMO, so maybe I should shut-off this option. This however means that at some times, the menu gets a bit overcrowded, but this is probably a good thing for gameplay, since there is mostly only a small choice of vehicles from TIAS available.

True that, I noticed this while playing yesterday as well. I'll shut this down as well, so reliablity becomes as per default.

This was intended, since neither of the companies represented in TIAS run in arctic/snowy regions. They all run around on the mild climate of the Kanto coastline.

It sure helps a lot! The upcoming TIAS 1.7-alpha will have some great improvements thanks to your report!

Cheers!

I've got another small one for you.

Keisei 3700 Type (6 Cars) reports that it has 8 cars in the Number of Cars field.

Sweet! Thanks :D

Expect an update somewhere next week or the next one. I'll probably remove the automatic parameters as well, since I get the impression people would like to use TIAS without the Japan Set as well. Plus, the set will be easier to maintain once the Japan Set 3 Trains are released.

Hello all,

Things are looking fine with TIAS! I've made some drastic changes that will break compatibility with 1.6-alpha. Some of these changes have improved gameplay, but will make your purchase menu a bit overcrowded at some point. However, it shouldn't be too much of a big deal, right? It's just what you get with +100 trains -I think there are about 122- packed in one set.

TIAS will also now be playable as a standalone set and has now its running/purchase costs and capacity parameters separated (read: they are now manually adjustable), so you can now tune TIAS according to your own needs. No need for the Japan Set any more, but it's still highly recommended to do so!

With this release, TIAS is getting closer and closer to a full-on release, out of the alpha stage. The only thing that is needed is the fine-tuning of the purchase/running costs and re-introduction of the reliability factors.

So, enjoy the latest release of TIAS, TIAS 1.7-alpha HERE!

Cheers!

Toni

Got the following report for ECS
Quote:
С Japan Trains в пустыне нет вагона для нефтеперегонки...

There is no wagon for transporting RFPR (refined products) in desert.
Please have a look

On this set's newer v3 brother, passenger/mail parameter seems to be broken. (The capacities are always 40/50/60 no matter the setting).

The 2.1a version works in this respect strangely.

Had a go at a very basic fix for the shinkansen wires in the old japan set, which seems to work.

Hi guys - I love this set. Is there any reason that my Shinkansen uses the original monorail track? I had thought it had its own specific track which replaces monorail.

I can't find any GRF parameter, within the game at least. Perhaps it is because I'm using Chrill's patchpack?

GRF parameters are set manually like any other old set, the parameters can be found on the japan set website read me. Also I don't know if chill's patch pack has the new parameter window

The various types of standard gauge tracks is a part of the as of yet unreleased Japan Set Japanese Tracks: http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/jptracks We're slowly starting up development again, since we have a lot of new stuff laying around that is still unfinished and unreleased.
