IIRC, DJ hasn't coded it because "it lacked info and stats"... :?

Might someone want to add French Dual-mode (diesel and electric) multiple unit, SNCF B81500 to this set? :) I've drawn them three years ago, but so far they aren't coded in any set, in future they are used on Finnish Trainset. Feel free to use these in your set and edit to 2cc livery.

Info:
Available: 2004 onwards, Speed: 160 km/h, Power 2548 Hp (electric)/1776 Hp (diesel), Traction effort 270 kN, Weight: 135 t total (in 3-car set), 208 passengers total (in 3-car set)
Coded as: trailing unit: diesel engine 1776 HP, leading unit: 778 HP (electric). Additional horsepower applies when under electrification.

More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNCF_Class_B_81500

Title of this set is: "2cc Trainset - The Trains of the world in 2cc" - meaning only REAL trains. IMO, we should stick with this and make "futuristic" invented stuff as a separate add-on.

Hi ppl, well i have to agree, I've started to use 2cc but in cca 2040 i have no maglev train capable cargo transport.. there is no available locomotive to use that... .. any tips or solution?

Well, a cargo maglev won't be added until such a thing exists in real life. However, search around the forums a bit, I think you'll find other sets you can use in addition to the 2CC set that will do what you want.

It would be nice but the current coding framework doesn't support dual mode trains. When I take this back up I'll give it a try though :)

I don't think it's fair to expect that sets fill the original 1950-2050 time period with new vehicles, even though this was the default in TTD. Many sets, especially those focussing on real life, moved this time period more towards 1900-2000 (with some sets even being available from 1800!).

If you want vehicles after "today", you'd probably want to use a set which specifically focusses on futuristic vehicles. Sets like that exist, and thanks to OpenTTD you can load multiple trainsets together. That allows you to mix any sets you want, and it allows us to say "we won't do MagLev, there's other sets who already do that" (since it'd be a shame to reinvent the wheel).

There isn't one single fictional engine or even wagon in this set, all are real vehicles. IMO, we should keep it this way.

As said by Jake and Purno, you can add other sets for these. I.e. try Jake's "Vacum trains" or "Japanese Maglev set" (these are still only real vehicles).

I need help with this addon.

I downloaded the BETA 5 from the NewGRF files (using the tool within OpenTTD - Latest stable version). It installed fine. After reading the readme file I went to change the parameters but with only the following options:

Image

I want to be able to use this set along side the UK Renewal Trainset V3, but only with Western and Southern Europe enabled (all others disabled).

So I downloaded the Alpha release and you do have the options to do this:

How do I set this in BETA 5? Just I could not add parameters but would love to do so ...

Thanks in advance for any help 8)

AFAIK, many parameters are still not implemented. We had a major setback last year with our main coder dropping out of the project and... well, we're slowly picking up the pace.

Sorry with the inconvenience but we're really doing the best we can.

No need to apologise :D

I'm thankful of the project as a whole.

What's the main differences between using Alpha compared with BETA?

Well, alpha had some serious problems if I remember correctly, some coding didn't go really well and there were some bugs. Also, the beta has many more vehicles inside - and there are approximately 100+ vehicles still waiting to be coded!

Ah, yes, not even the alpha had the regional parameter correct so - use the beta. Also, if you spot anything weird or wrong, it would be very helpful if you could provide some feedback!

EDIT: I see it's already a month but... welcome to the forums from me too! :D

Not to be a slave driver or anything, but will there be any updates to the set in the near future? Its been ages since the last nightly ( -r757) came out. I'm just wondering because I really like this set for its variety.

BTW, I find this set doesnt like to play nicely with some older sets like the tropical renewal train set. Nothing bad, but I dislike the fact that electrics appear and run on normal rail.

DJ is still gone, and we don't expect to hear anything from him I'm afraid. I have been studying and ill in the past few months, but next semester I might hopefully pick this back up and finally properly implement the new wagons :)

Additionally, NuTracks needs an overhaul, and I was thinking of maybe expanding this set into narrow gauge, using the vehicles that are already in narrow gauge plus adding several more.

That shouldn't happen (and it doesn't for me), it may be due to a track set or changing newgrf's ingame (which tends to disable electric rail for some reason)

I hardly ever change grf's ingame, not unless I screwed something up and I don't want to lose all the work I did when I finally realise somethings not right. Also I think it happens with and without nutracks. Its not a majour problem since I hardly use electrics (hell, i hardly ever get past 1970/80 because I just don't have the motivation to play the game that long anymore)

Hello i have an idea for a locomotive that could be added. I'll try and draw it myself however it may not turn out good.

The 4-8-4 Northern. This locomotive type was used extensively for fast freight and express passenger service in North America. This locomotive was used by both American and Canadian locomotive companies. The largest single operator of the 4-8-4 Locomotive was Canadian National Railways with 160 locomotives purchased of a total 1'126 total units. there were additional units owned by the CN subsidiary grand trunk western. CNR Identified the type as Confederation not northern. the first trains entered service in 1927, they had a tractive effort of 56786 lbs, they had a total engine and tender weight of 664890 lbs, the locomotive continued service until the abandoning of steam engines in the 1970's, the class could easily travel above 100 mph

Hi everyone !

I'm new in the forum, because i've discover the 2cc train set two months ago : well done guys ! The gaming experience with this set is outstanding ! :P

I found one problem : you write in the 2cc train set that the AGV is italian. But AGV signify hight speed MU (from french: Automotrice à Grande Vitesse  ), design by Alstom, the same designer of the french TGV. SNCF (the french transport society) help in the development of this new MU, like before with the TGV. NTV have bought 25 AGVs first, because the SNCF is waiting for the AGV Duplex. And AGVs are built in France.

By the way, i'm an IT student, i can program in many languages. I've never created newgrf but learning an other programming language won't be a problem. I know that you have some difficulties to add all trains in the set because not yet programmed. Maybe another programmer would be appreciated ? :)

Welcome to the forums! :D

Regarding the AGV, I've "designed" it as Italian because the only ordered AGVs are currently Italian. I.e. the Siemens Desiro, I've used the electric one as a Bulgarian trainset although it's clearly German-made (we just desperately needed a Bulgarian trainset  ).

This set doesn't distinguish trains based on their origin. We would end up with just a few countries from the whole world (you know how many train-producing countries there are in the world :? ).
Instead, we're making them according to usage in a country, always trying to spread trains across all continents. This is because there will eventually be "regional parameters", allowing you to enable/disable some parts of the world. I.e. you could choose to play with East Europe and Asian trains only...

Also, it's up to the artists to choose a train's country, it's a kind of a non-written agreement we have.

There's also another thing - liveries. I can tell you for myself, when I've chosen a specific country for a specific train, I've tried to copy the real livery in 2cc. Another country could have a different livery, making my drawing... well... wrong.

As for coding... currently we have one coder, Emperor Jake and he's very busy with his college right now so the whole project is on a standstill for now. I know absolutely nothing about coding so I can't help you with this but I hope Jake will see this post and will give you a buzz to see if you're interested/willing/able to help. In any case, thank you for the offer, much appreciated. :D

Cheers!

It actually would be nice to have another Canadian steam locomotive, and one that has better traction then the Hudson (which is better suited for express long distance runs).

I hope that maybe someone can draw the 4-8-4 Northern so we'll have another Canadian locomotive in the set (and because canadian and american locomotives are usually the same models with country specific variations, Canadian Northern's could be use even in a American Scenario)

Seems like that Canadian steamer would fill a gap. All we need is someone to create some quality artwork of it, and I can't imagine it won't be coded
