Actually, compared to the grey they've used for the last 20 years, I like the scheme on the P42's. I think it'll look pretty good on an F40PH-2 as well.

I've got a few more "Unique" locos to add to the tracking table, so I'll likely add the JetTrain as well.

DanMack, I just came to think of this. For the dutch trainset we asked permission to use Michael Blunck's Dutch/Swiss RAm TEE consist. He agreed sofar as long as we find a way to obey his copyright in our set (we have to find a solution yet). The RAm were sold to Canada in the 1980's IIRC and they were used for The Northlander (ugly yellow/blue livery). I think the motor units weren't sold but demolished in Europe.

Hyronymus, The Northlander's been in the back of my mind for awhile. Actually, the power cars were used from 1977-1980. The coaches were used until a few years ago. It probably will be added at some point.

Dan, as you're the dean of the Canadian Set, I need your guidance: should I use company colours on the stations? I ask because sometimes company colours cheapen the appearence of stations...

Honestly man, I'm going to say no. Aside from signs, none of the USSet stations use company colours... I'm tempted to say just leave 'em natural.

Didn't both CP and CN tend to use the same colours for the stations? The witches hats did have the station name on a board and that could be coloured. In game it would probably appear as just a short thin line though.

Not too bad, needs work. I'm not looking for additional artists on this, I want this set to be "Mine" (Aside from the repaints such as the C44-9W and F59PHi mind you) I've had a C44-9W in the works for awhile myself, just haven't posted it yet.

As I've stated before in this thread, I need train artists, I'll look. (No offense)

Stations, yes I need.

@wallyweb, well, going by Goderich, ON, which has 2 Witches Hat stations, both are red brick, both have a distinct style. I may post pictures later.

DanMacK: no offense intended, but you really need to be open to other artists' ideas. Let other people draw atleast a few things, and if you don't like it, you can edit it or draw one yourself to replace.

i agree (see, even i know this now  )... but one thing, i think i prefer the CN logo on Andrews Dash 9, than the logo on DanMack avatar, maybe it's just me, but the darker colour seems to do the trick... but in all honesty i have no idea, i've never seen a canadian loco before :?

lol, forget i said anything, hehe

Actually, I agree with DanMacK on this one.

Perhaps it is because I like his drawing style, or perhaps I like the idea that a set looks more coherant if all of something is drawn by a single person. The same style of drawing is used, and thus a strongly unified set is produced.

I think DanMacK should be able to choose how he develops the set. If it only uses his graphics, then thats all good, as we know the quality we will be seeing, and it will have the same style.

Thats just my opinion as a consumer of the graphics projects though, not having worked on one myself, I don't hope to sway anyone with such a post.

true true... but i recall danmack requesting my help on a wagon last time i was here (as ttdx_artist), so i suppose it is up to danmack in the end, but i also support the idea of 'constructive critisism', which without it would we would have lots of artists drawing crap and filling up webspace... so i'm sitting on the fence with this one, but i would encourage you to keep trying andrew, it's better than some of my earlier stuff, and for reference just see how B52 has improved  and we really do need more artists for ttd now that most of us (i'm guilty of this too) are moving on to Lo'mo'

My thoughts are that it is Dan's set, but that it's wise for him to accept what help he can get, as long as it isn't terrible. It'll get the set done sooner.

Well, in fact ONR acquired all four of the remaining trainsets in 1976 (one set had been demolished in the devastating train crash at Aitrang/Germany in 1971) and promotional service for the "Northlander" started in May 1977. Nevertheless, the original diesel power-units built by dutch "Werkspoor"("works poor") were especially sensitive to the Canadian climate and were replaced by GMD FP-7A's in 1980.

See http://www.ttdpatch.de/ram_2.html and http://uwacadweb.uwyo.edu/RGodby/trains/northlander.htm for the whole interesting story.

If this set were to be all drawn by one person, then why start a thread about?

Comments, suggestions, said stations DanMacK wants. All sorts of things. Especially requests for coders. Plus anyway, somone might out of the blue draw somthing to such a high standard that DanMacK includes it, or atleast repaints it :P.

So far everything I've seen done by Dan has been accurately excellent. The colours are spot on. For someone who just started this set as something to fill in time while working on the USSet, he's made remarkable progress. I say the trains are his to do. The buildings will come eventually and he has offered to look at some stations. This guy has a real good handle on Canadian railroading. This is definitely worthy of its own thread. Remarkable indeed for someone who keeps an extra large double-double on the go and probably has to head down the hall every fifteen minutes as a result. Whatever you do Dan, DON"T mix the stuff with Labatt's or Molson's or Moosehead.
