new disaster

Post by Wolf01 »

new disaster, in the last period in Italy some derailments have happened due to the bad rails and engines state... i wondered that in TTD there was nobody that thought for this disaster

when the disaster happen, only in curves ( ___/ ), the piece of track must be removed (the rails become useless in real world)

Yes I like the idea, we could find a list of many disasters happening with the trains.

Another one:
In past years people was going rubbing the trains, it could be implemented in the valuables cargos.

yes, the robbers, in the far west used horses and they jumped into the train which was running (the steams engines couldn't travel at high speeds, and a horse could reach it easily)

Heh, funny, He said rubbing the trains not robbing them, Now rubbing a train going at high speed, Be a funny way to lose most of the skin on your hand, *shudders at the thought of hand hitting a screw or metal plate*

Anyway, enough of that :D

Steam train robberies do sound interesting indeed, I wonder what the graphics would look like, Not to mention the newspaper entry for it :D

Mabye other things could be inserted, like:

Fire at the station, all cargo burned!
Fire at the station, the station will be closed for some months!
Passeggers robbed, nobody could pay the transport fee!
Strike of the trainmans, all trains from A to B stopped for a month!

Another "disaster" could be that when a train gets a breakdown it would get late to the station and some passeggers of the station will go home (or to the next near opposite station)

Ice berg!

Wolf01, I like the idea, but I don't think the last few carriages should blow up, In fact I think the train could carry on going, for about two sqaures, Id just love it falling off a cliff :P

none of it should blow up. They don't do that in rl. The tracks could be blocked for say 6-12 months, after then, you get a get a report saying the train has been removed and then you need to replace the tracks. What about on some steam trains the last few cars uncoupling. that would be cool.

Interesting that you quote RL then something completely unrealistic right after.

The tracks should be blocked for 1 month or 2 months max. Clearing up and fixing the track shouldn't take a long time.

i don't clicked in the skip signal button, but that's happened automatically when i removed one part of the station, i'll try to reproduce this, so whe have automatically the disaster

the signal was red before the second train skipped it!!!!!!

now i know how it was happened!

build in line a depot, 2 or 3 pieces of track, a tunnel, another 2 or 3 pieces of track then a 2 tile long station, place a 2 way signal beetwen the depot and the tunnel...

buy 2 engines and 2 wagons, use shared orders with full load to make one engine at time to stop and wait at the station, the other engine should wait before the signal, remove the first piece of the station (the piece linked with the track) and... THE SIGNAL IS RED!
rebuild the missing piece, the signal is still red... now remove one piece of track beetwen the station and the tunnel, now the signal is GREEN, make the second engine go to depot, rebuild the piece of track you have removed, the signal IS STILL GREEN!
release the second engine from the depot and see the crash
this is what happened to me!

it works only with that station, if i try with another it doesn't work, i'll post a savegame

edit:
yes, it worked also with another station, but i removed the tunnel instead the piece of track, the other points are the same

"don't try this at home, or try it at your risk and danger"

all screenshots aren't edited, i only cut them to take less space, i don't used the skip signal button, i stopped the train only to take the screenshots because they are too quick... this might work also with road crosses

I went searching to see if anyone had suggested train robberies before.
It would make most sense for Valuables trains passing through uninhabited territory, and perhaps be offset by a budget item for railroad police.Spend more on security and get less chance of robbery.

Pretty sure there's a policy of no crime and violence, but I can't find that page anymore.

This is just another suggestion that adds very little to gameplay so it's unlikely to go in. Good digging though.
