[REL] Spanish 447 series - v1.0 download (11/10/04)

Post by Leone »

Hi, my first post around here, but not new to the forums...

I'm triying to make a 447 series passenger train used to transport passengers urban or interurban travels. in some important cities of my country (Spain)

I collected data about the train, then modelled in a 3D soft (you can see the image), i rendered different angles obtaining all the pngs needed to make the basic rotation (like y see spinning in the train build windows) but when i try to make the Dat, there is a trouble with the palettes of the images. The colors all are wrong cos of different palettes.

I dont know how to render using the game palette, nor mapping my custom palette to the game palette.

Any ideas?

I think if i could find a semi-automated method to make the images and generate the xmls tags for each image, i could do some more spanish trains using the scripts i used to render the 447 series from all angles (of course modelling is a manual work hehe)

Thanks

PD: soz for my english ;-)

Solved myself hehe :D, i could do that in photoshop...

But now new problem:

I need some explanation about xofsset and yoffset of the images, dont understand exactly what says in RCT GRAPHICS FILES.

How can i set specific positions for each one of the images, and the position of the bogeys?

Bye

the xof and yof settings are all same for all views, as long the train is centered in each render image output file. Try first using Loco's default settings for these and just replacing some default trains name and statistics and graphics. Then tweak as you see bugs or that something bothers you.

I can't help you a lot with this, cause it seems very complex to me, but I just wanted to compliment you on the 3D model.

I doubt you can see that at Locomotion's scale...

Quality Textures can be visible in Loco too..besides the fixes i suggest aren't something big, i'd just wish he would fix the lines on border of each part.

Textures are not my major problem right now, im trying to find the relation between x and y offsets and the image size to make the right offsets to my model.

Btw, look at that pic to see that no need to work in textures for this model, only render with some hiligths or something like that

Very nice that work you're doing!!!!

I'm also Spanish and I really like that way of customizing the game.

With TTDX I made some spanish scenarios which are nicer to play (at least you know where are the different towns). Now I'm just starting with Locomotion (only 3 hours playing) and I don't have enough time for making any other thing, but if it's easy I would like to add some other spanish models to the game like the 252, 269, 319 locos and 9000 or 10000 passanger cars... and also the new coming high speed trains.

Maybe it's not the best option but it may save a lot of work if the drawings of trains made for traffic screensaver could be used here... Of course that we'll have to say where are the drawings coming from...

I forgot to say that those units are sadly famous because of the March 11 blasts in Madrid.

Hey, i started thinking i was the only spanish guy around here! :D

Where are u from exactly? Im from Madrid too.

I haven't too much time to work in the models, and only in weekends, but i got that one in about 2 hours, so i can do something.

I could make the model run in locomotion, and only in "level ground" angles, but too many bugs to make a release, need to know some more info about .dat files.

Maybe i could do some vehicle editing tool in a near future to make the model, generating images, put the right offsets values and other stuff, and then use the nice tool from reading and writing Dat files, locotool

Un saludo ;)

Hi Leone,

You are not "solo". I live in Torrejon a suburb in the NE of Madrid.
I'm an old player of TTD. By the moment I have only played for a couple of hours. Unfortunately I don't have many time for games, so I'm still with the first contacts to Locomotion. By the moment I'm more interested in building an almost real Scenario with Spain or at least a part of it.

See you in other threads!

PS (I feel really strange writing in english to another Spaniard!!!)

Well again working on this train, i have a pic of the train in the game.

Need some work in rendering process (add some ligths and more to give it some hilights) but it will be in the final stage. Need some minor fixes in the position of the bogeys and so, but later too :)

Now i need some input to configure the xml. I want to make the whole unit (1 head, 1 motor, 1 head) as a single "train", and that can couple with other units of the same components, like in real world. In the pic there is a single unit, it would be the smallest part u can buy, you could not buy one head, 3 motors and another head, only that specific configuration.

Thanks!

Can you please put any lighting details, angles and scale on the wiki so it's easier for other people to make things.

http://wiki.locomotiondepot.net/

Or mail them to me and i'll add them.

This post looks to be the place of Spanish people in these forums...

I am from Valencia, now studying for a while in USA... I am an old TTDX player, and just played Loco demo for a couple of hours (and I was not very happy, I should say)

That 446 looks so great!! Maybe you should consider start with the most reputed Spanish train out there: the Talgo, in any of its versions!

Keep on the good job!
Pep

You think you are good... play the TTDX Challenge!
