Emperor Jake's Old Junk

Post by Emperor Jake »

This thread is full of old junk, which has been either abandoned or updated. See the new release thread here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=86883

This is a graphics release thread where I will collect all of my NewGRF projects that are minor and don't need their own release thread, as well as major releases, so you can find them all in one place.

I made a new image for my signature that links to this thread.

The Housing as Industries set

This set is currently in Alpha, but is playable and includes several styles of apartment and flats buildings taken from TTRS, courtesy of Zimmlock. There may be some minor issues with ECS and FIRS, compatibly remains untested (but I have had few problems with FIRS apart from it not wanting to be built near certain other industries) This GRF can be used to create large apartment complexes to feed your passenger routes, but be sure to make your routes efficient or they will flood your stations.

Here is the download. Tar file, contains source files and GRF. Code licensed under GPLv2.

The NewCC Set - New Company Colours

This clever NewGRF replaces most of the default company colours with better-looking, brighter and more vibrant new ones. In the future it is planned to implement parameters that allow choosing separate colours, since some people may not like the brighter orange but want to keep other colours.

Trains of Europe - Trifase Electric Railway (taster)

This is a taster GRF. It includes a Three-phase electric railtype as used in Italy from the 1900s to the 1970s, and an FS Class e554 locomotive. I am unsure as to what will happen to this NewGRF. It most likely will be implemented as an add-on to the Italian Train Set, or the tracks coded separately into Trains of Europe-Tracks.
Like in real life, it is fully compatible with RAIL and therefore the locomotive can pull any regular carriages, and steam/diesel trains will happily run on it.

KITT

A really tiny GRF that I put together as a favour for Buckethead. The graphics and alignments aren't very good, and tehre is little incentive to improve it presently.

Invisible Leading Engine and Power Booster

A tiny invisible engine that has many, many purposes, both good and evil  . Comes in both powered and unpowered versions and allows connecting of most rail vehicles where it is otherwise prohibited by the NewGRF. More info can be found at the development thread.

Just a small sample of the evil things that can be done with it.

Town Names GRFs

Australian Town Names

I was mucking around with Town Names grfs, and the Aussie Town Names grf resulted. It is still not perfectly polished, there may still be a few un-fitting names and you may get some awkward combinations if you have a large map with many towns. But otherwise, the set has nice names that reflect Australia's multiculturalism, such as many Aboriginal names, and a few from various non-English European language origins. The combination makes for a more varied selection of names, instead of having all names from one language or culture as is common with other town name sets.

Special thanks goes to MinchinWeb for inspiration and writing a lot of the code, which I modified for use in this set. You may also enjoy his town name GRFs.

Porsche 911 Turbo

This small GRF was inspired by a friend who asked me to draw his favourite car for OpenTTD. I am proud of the results, so I'm posting them here :P

Can it do 2CC? *ducks* Really nice, makes a great alternative to Generic Cars. :-) Although, maybe it's just me, it doesn't look like the vehicle is centered on the road tile right, depending on the viewing angle it's either too close to the center line or too close to the edge of the road.

It also depends on the roadset you use, methinks.

A bit, but not too much. The center line should always be in the same place in all roadsets.

I can recommend the offsets as published in the NML Tutorial for road vehicles. They're pretty good. I figured those out myself.

The graphics itself I think are very good, very well recognizable as a Porsche!

I'm just going off of the screenshot posted, which looks like OpenGFX roadset to me.

So I'm kinda getting back into coding...

I made this quick and dirty NewGRF that overrides the graphics of some locomotives in the 2CC Trains in NML. Specifically the SNCF CC40100 and the Voith Maxima (HVLE V490), originally drawn by me and accidentally redrawn because I had neglected to label them properly. There were others too, but I think Voyager One did a better job of those :) There's also a bonus Class 1044.
