My first networked game

Post by Raph »

Hi! I've been lurking around here and at the openttdcoop wiki for a while, and finally decided to try learning how to play the networked, #openttdcoop style of playing. I used to play Transport Tycoon and ttdx years and years ago, but never tried anything as advanced as what people around here is doing.

So, I just wanted to see if you have some feedback for me? It's not complete and optimised and such, so any suggestions for improving efficiency would be nice!

Welcome to the forums.

If this is your first attempt then you've been doing pretty well. You can see that you've been reading on the OTTD coop pages. ;)
Though I noticed quite some slow curves in the network and quite some mergers close to each other. In this stage that will not be much of a problem, but with highen traffic and speed it will be. Check this page about curve lengths so trains will not slow down.

Thanks! I'll try to work on the slow curves, though I think I might leave some on the way to and from the sidelines where there's not so much traffic, or are these very important too? Maybe I should fix all of them, I don't like an unfinished job.

I got some other pointers on station building, enabling realistic acceleration and disabling servicing from the #openttdcoop channel too, that helped the flow. I'd be happy for more suggestions if there are any, though!
