Photo Of The Month - July 2013 Voting

Post by Geo Ghost »

Evening!

Voting for the July 2013 Photo of the Month is now available till the 7th.
Only a few entries this month. Guess it was a difficult theme? Or people never got round to getting something, like myself.

The theme was 'Compromises and Oddities'.

Entries can he found here.

As always, good luck all!

I've placed my vote, but I'm disappointed with the lack of entries. I was really expecting YNM to put out something great.

I would have taken a shot of the new tram bridge being slid across the train station in Nottingham but my phone was taken off me in the street

If everyone is explaining themselves, why wouldn't I as well? What I've submitted and you seem to like it more or less isn't what I initially planned either, I was actually going to show something from my nearest playground, which is tram network of my city, but had no time to take the picture. I'm sure the idea will fit one or another theme in the future. Anyway, I've posted something odd enough and from a place most of you will probably never visit ;) Shame there is little competitors.

Come on, really? Just step out to the main road and you can see all sort of road violations happening

Your entry is not just odd, it's also very beautiful. Also the depth of field effect is used in a very nice way.

In a place where such thing is normal to see, they aren't interesting.

It might be interesting to most of the people in the forum though, I mean, they don't see it in their countries.

Almost forgotten to vote... :P

Two beautiful entries IMO, sorry I had to decide for only one...

I added descriptions to files on the wiki.

And small suggestion - is it possible to add licence status to photos? It would be good both for people that want to release it under free licence (so photo will be reusable on Wikipedia etc) and people that prefer to keep all copyright (slightly more likely that somebody will care about it).

I doubt anyone would explicitly look for free photographs here. Nevertheless, same as Dave, I'm not going to copyleft or otherwise release my photos to the public.

Entrants can add such themselves and also put watermarks in their photos if they so wish. if that's what you mean.

Oh thanks :) If future themes fit, I'll perhaps have an occasion to show you guys a little more Ukrainian sites you don't find in travel guides.

Or maybe make a thread about this? It sounds very interesting. BTW, is there something like this hidden in Kraków or near this city?

Fantastic picture Vear, well done. From the look of it, if the overhead cables weren't there you wouldn't even realise there was a railway there.

Reminds me of this video I found on youtube a while ago. A sort of urban version.
