Photo Of The Month - June 2013 Entries
Hey all.
The new theme is now available so here's the entry topic for June
The theme for this month is Wilderness
Set by last months winner, Vear.
"It might be considered the exact opposite of what we had most recently; what I'm expecting is photographs showing how transport systems are located in desolated or otherwise little spoiled by civilisation (with some tolerance of course) places, or perhaps in the middle of busy cities, yet masked well, with the nearest neighbourhood looking like it was far away in the wild."
Encase you're new, or need a refresh...
Rules can be found Here.
Please read and familiarise yourselves with them if you haven't before.
Previous winners can also be found on that page.
How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.
If uploading direct to the wiki:
I like to keep entries in a certain named format for organisation reasons as well as keeping record of them in the entries topic and here. If you prefer to upload to the wiki, please keep it in the same naming format as other entries and inform me they are already on the wiki. Name format is - month|year|POTM_user name.
For example: 0613POTM_DaveW.jpg / 0613POTM_orudge.jpg / 0613POTM_GeoGhost.jpg / 0613POTM_Ameecher.jpg
You get the idea
If you upload to the wiki with a different format, I will have to re-upload the image again with the right name. Sorry to be picky, but I want to keep all the entries organised and in the same manner.
At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available till the 7th of each month (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month. Then we repeat from there. Simple.
If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering.
Best of luck everyone!
-Richard

Tough one, nice theme though. I've just left the true Wilderness of Scotland and am back in Norfolk now, typical!
Re: Photo Of The Month - June 2013 Entries
This is a nice theme IMO. I prefer the more rural looking areas, but I cant stand living in one.
Heres my entry, a nice shot of the highway I go into town everyday (I hope that this counts!). Its too bad I took it last year with a D40 so the quality isn't as great as it could be. I'll see if I can't get a nice summer shot of it with my new D5100, for quality purposes.

I think I got a chance to compete in this. Where I live, it's mostly rainforest and the cities (really, they are more like towns) are pretty small.

Had some quite good out-of-door photographs when the train stops, but it was in the middle of the night...
Dunno, either that or I'll take new photographs...

Does a disused railway line conform to rules?
Very much a retired regular poster..... If you can say that
Re: Photo Of The Month - June 2013 Entries
Assuming it's obvious enough there was a line there, that's fine.47 407 wrote:Does a disused railway line conform to rules?

I suppose that's a "Way out of wilderness"?
EDIT: Figures, posting with no entry...
So, I've chosen a different "wilderness", no landscapes or similar. Just a small young grebe resting on a mooring buoy.

Too much off? If you all think so, I'll change my entry.
Re: Photo Of The Month - June 2013 Entries
It's not that much off, it's just the links to transport are less clear.

Well, that is a mooring buoy for bulk freighters...YNM wrote:links to transport are less clear.
Anyway, I'll rethink. What's worst is that I've broken my camera 3 days ago.

I did it on purpose, lower resolution + slightly slower shutter speed and IIRC I played with some shadow adjustment thingy to accentuate those reflections on sea.

Nice theme this month! Here is mine:
The only form of human live is on our 125 meters of civilization while the only other people are on the small dot on the horizon. The best way of life is at sea!

I see no problem with it personallyVoyager One wrote:Too much off? If you all think so, I'll change my entry.
It's a mooring buoy, therefore transport related, and it's obvious in the photo.
