Photo Of The Month - May 2013 Entries

Post by Geo Ghost »

Evening all.

Here we are once more at the start of a new month with a brand new and very interesting theme set by Dave.

The theme for this month is Urban Landscape
Set by last months winner, DaveW.
"What I mean by this is that I want to see how transport systems interact in cities. I'm looking for photos where transport has been forced to fit into tight urban spaces or where a city has naturally grown around a transport system, and the innovative ways this has been done. I'm also looking for photos where the transport adds something to the atmosphere of the Urban outlook. We've had a few open topics now so I thought I would be quite specific. I still think there's a wide open scope in what sort of transport and how you take your shot but I hoped thisone might add a bit of thought. Speaking of wide open scopes, Ameecher is a toss bag."

Encase you're new, or need a refresh...
Rules can be found Here.
Please read and familiarise yourselves with them if you haven't before.
Previous winners can also be found on that page.

How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.
If uploading direct to the wiki:
I like to keep entries in a certain named format for organisation reasons as well as keeping record of them in the entries topic and here. If you prefer to upload to the wiki, please keep it in the same naming format as other entries and inform me they are already on the wiki. Name format is - month|year|POTM_user name.
For example: 0513POTM_DaveW.jpg / 0513POTM_orudge.jpg / 0513POTM_GeoGhost.jpg / 0513POTM_Ameecher.jpg
You get the idea ;)

If you upload to the wiki with a different format, I will have to re-upload the image again with the right name. Sorry to be picky, but I want to keep all the entries organised and in the same manner.

At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available till the 7th of each month (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month. Then we repeat from there. Simple. :D

If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering.

Greatly looking forward to entries for this month. Be interesting to see what people come up with. Good luck to you all!

I know a great place where I could take a picture for this month, but unfortunately I don't have access to that place anymore.

That place gonna be pretty far away...
If you think 2-4 floor commercial building qualifies to be called "urban", surely we got a lot here...

Congrats to Dave W. for last months win and the selection of an interesting topic. When hearing that, I had something very specific in mind, something I already shot few years ago, but I believe fits perfectly into the theme, showing innovative ways of dealing with a tight urban space. So I selected the Wuppertaler Schwebebahn. Wuppertal is squeezed into a narrow river valley. The Schwebebahn follows this river for most of its route and branches off on the southern end into a part of the city, running high above the narrow roads.

I hope you like my entry:

As interpretation of a theme goes, it's hard to pick a better photo!

Agreed.

Slow entries so far, but the two we've had are superb!

I want to enter with a special photo but I have to wait to shoot it in a precise moment, one of these days. I have a previous one but it's taken from my car with my cell phone and it's pretty crappy. :P

My entry - the lesser known area of London looking east from Wandsworth.

Note London Heliport on the right and docks on the left in various locations.
