Man, that is some cool stuff. A little like the Chicago underground freight railroad, which has also fascinated me. Do you know if any of the rolling stock survives, and if there any pics of it?

As interesting as it is, I think you may have taken the bait as well as the hook, line and sinker.

Notice the photos have been uploaded to flickr on the 1st April 2007. Coincedence, I think not ;)

I was already thinking that before I even saw the date, the date just confirmed it. The fact that Stalin funded an underground railway in the middle of farmer land was quite frankly so far fetched that it had to be untrue. Also, Ipswich is so small you'd need about 4 stops to have an underground railway, the way that article was going it was a metropolis in the thirties. It was finally the picture of the church which did it. Cleverly done, and obviously some people fell for it.

See I was the oposite. The one on Duke Street thats now a fish resternat used to be covered in Gray stealwork. Looked very imposing. Could easly have been a TfL building had it been in London. So missing the dates and the other clues I fell for it.

Only afterwards thinking that if it had been a part of Ipswich's Transport History... wouldn't it have had a mention in the Ipswich Transport Museum with the Busses and TrollyBusses!!

I ought to go to the Ipswich Transport museum, perhaps next time when I'm on one of my jollies with an Anglia Ranger ticket I might venture as far as Ipswich.

Ironicly I don't know how you would get to the transport museum without access to a car
