Behold adjacent communities with about a 75-1 population ratio...yet each has a soccer stadium of the same size,nearly next to each other.
Is there no way to make the fields more proportional?

Yeah sure...Use the dynamite on the one in the smaller town. Problem solved.

Didn't you know that OpenTTD takes place in an alternative reality where a Communist FIFA took over the world and sponsored uniform stadiums to the working classes across the globe...?

But both these cases have the bigger stadium in the smaller town notice that your smaller town is attached, just like in these cases. OpenTTD = highly realistic.

- Population: ~1 million
- Stadium: St Andrews (Birmingham City)
- Capacity: 30,000

- Population: 37,000
- Stadium: Old Trafford (Manchester United)
- Capacity: 76.000
- Population: 500,000
- Stadium: City of Manchester Stadium
- Capacity: 50,000 (although currently reduced during expansion work)
But both these cases have the bigger stadium in the smaller town notice that your smaller town is attached, just like in these cases. OpenTTD = highly realistic.
