Introducing...
VBT - Very Beige Transport
Founded in 1972, VBT has purchased four multiple units to connect the cities in the Mentborough region. The founder already owns a small freight (iron ore) operation in the west of the country, a more prosperous area thanks to the amount of transport links. Using the profit from this operation, he wishes to replicate this success to the lesser developed Mentborough region which he is fond of, having spent his childhood there.
Ten years later however, due to the dire lack of capital and political interest the service remains of poor quality. Passengers are starting to complain and change is much overdue…
The services are centred around two hub stations, Sindinghead and Brenfingbridge, with four lines radiating from there. There is no through working between branches to maximise unit use and avoid conflicts. Due to the low frequencies however connecting between services is at best tedious.

This was originally a multiplayer game, hence other companies also serving the city. - scr2.jpg (218.68 KiB) Viewed 1701 times

Re: [OTTD] Marylebone's Screenshots
Due to the continuing lack of funding, there were few improvements between 1980 and 1983. A new north-south through express service has been added, hauled by an electric loco. With this service office-workers in Garnington can travel in full comfort to the lovely seaside town of Sundinghead.
A competing bus link has been established between Mentborough and Slardhattan Ridge - that pushed VBT into erecting a branch -not linked to the main network- between those two stations. However the service has not lasted longer than a few years and the DMU reused for more profitable endeavours.
However, the elections are approaching and this could well lead to interesting developments…

You can save some capital by not electrifying if you only intend to use DMUs...
