[OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
Hello, everybody!
This is my first screenshot, which I decided to publish.
Because I like trains in the mountains, my first screenshot shows industrial line to coal mine located in high snowy mountains, 10 tiles above the "lower" station. The screenshot is taken from real game...

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
Hmm, they're somewhat similiar to the Locomotion ones, but that's a good point. Anyway, are you sure they aren't too large compared to the trains, signals, and houses ? Also, do you code them as stations, waypoints or as objects ?

All signalboxes and water towers are coded as objects.YNM wrote:Anyway, are you sure they aren't too large compared to the trains, signals, and houses ? Also, do you code them as stations, waypoints or as objects ?
Are they big? It depends... Many signalboxes in Poland are very big. Some samples below:

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
They look nice
But I'd like to share a piece of advice I learnt from andy wrt those graphics: at the bottom of the houses (one or two pixel rows), add some dirt and darker colours. That will make them appear to actually be built on the ground and not floating on top
I added it for instance as separate overlay sprites for the wind turbine to easily adopt different grounds (land vs. water):

Usually I'd just add it to the sprites themselves, though:
http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/ope ... perate.png (sprite 2113 in particular)
http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/ope ... actory.png (sprites 47, 48 in particular)

There are some pixels of dirt. Maybe I should add more pixels...planetmaker wrote:...at the bottom of the houses (one or two pixel rows), add some dirt and darker colours. That will make them appear to actually be built on the ground and not floating on top
Because this is the screenshot thread, I attach the new one. It shows my biggest industry area in the game, containing older (left) and newer (right) cargo stations.

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
The scale of these trains is much larger than most TT vehicles isn't it?
Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
They are. I think that is because the author wants to have a set with realistic length with the same scale for all trains. I think that other train sets shorten their carriage sprite lengths to fit a certain length rather than having a proportionally accurate scale.IrmoTrainfan wrote:The scale of these trains is much larger than most TT vehicles isn't it?

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
For several months I spend my free time as an NewGRF developer. I have no time to play with regular OTTD games.
So my current screenshots comes from development stages of new version of Polish Buildings Set.

Nice stuff. But I noticed some buildings have different color of snow. Different NewGRFs?

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
Yes, it is. Buildings with gray snow come from default OpenGFX set. Houses with bluish snow come from Polish set. I try to make the Polish set was compatible with TTRS and Swedish Houses.Purno wrote:...some buildings have different color of snow. Different NewGRFs?

Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
I am very big fan of your Polish building set. Many Polish buildings look really similar to those here is Slovakia. Thank you for making it!
Re: [OTTD] TadeuszD's random screenshots
Thanks for appreciating! Technically, I'm not the author of Polish Buildings Set. This set was created by Sojita, but he is absent on this forum. I just rewrite his set in NML and make it compatible with other OTTD climates and most known sets.Dudok22 wrote:I am very big fan of your Polish building set. Polish buildings are very similar to those in many post-communist countries. It is sad but true...
